The Last Chance Saloon is a location in Dragon Quest IV. A small inn on the edge of the large desert southeast of Casabranca, it is run by Hank Hoffman, Sr. and his son, and lends out wagons to travellers intending to make the difficult journey across the desert.
Story[]
When the Hero and their party first arrive at the inn, Hank Jr. refuses to lend out his wagon, citing a lack of trust in others following an incident of apparent betrayal by his best friend at the nearby Con Cave. The party set out to the cave to investigate, discovering monsters impersonating them as a test of their trust in one another. They successfully overcome the trial, and acquire the Symbol of Faith for their efforts.
Returning to the Last Chance Saloon, the party shows the artefact to Hoffman, who soon realizes the true purpose of the Con Cave, and his mistake in failing to trust in his friend. Feeling a renewed sense of faith in others, he offers the services of his horse and wagon to the party, and requests to accompany them on their journey.
