Lightning Thrust is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VIII[]
Debuting as a stronger version of Thunder Thrust, it is learned when the Hero invests 59 skill points into the Spear skill tree. It can deliver a critical hit on an enemy for a 50% accuracy rate, but consumes Tension if used, costing 3 MP in the process. In the 3DS remake, it no longer consumes Tension.
Dragon Quest XI[]
Reappearing for the first time in the main series since VIII, it now appears as a separate skill from Thunder Thrust and is learned when 16 skill points are invested in Jade's Spears Character Builder. It now has more accuracy in delivering a critical hit, making it more useful to hunt Metal slimes and costs 9 MP to use.
Dragon Quest Swords[]
Appearing as the Master Stroke for the Thunderbolt blade, it is used by raising the sword overhead and rotating it greatly, while pushing overhead causes lighting to strike the blade and damages the enemy by thrusting.
Dragon Quest Treasures[]
Known as Electroslash in this spinoff game, it is learned by Orc kings, Loss leaders, Red giants, and Ultra Marines, dealing a series of rapid thrusts that inflict major physical damage on any and all enemies that get in the way, likely inflicting critical damage in the process. It costs 3 MP to use.
