List of treasure map bosses in Dragon Quest IX

The following is a list of boss monsters which appear in treasure maps in Dragon Quest IX. There are 2 varieties of bosses to coincide with the 2 varieties of maps: normal and legacy boss.

Normal bosses[]

The last word of each map will tell you the possible bosses at the bottom of the map:

Joy, Bliss, or Glee will have boss number 1-3 at the bottom.
Doubt, Woe or Dolour will have a boss from numbers 1-6 at the bottom.
Regret, Bane or Fear will have a boss from numbers 4-9 at the bottom.
Dread, Hurt or Gloom will have a boss from numbers 7-12 at the bottom.
Death, Ruin, Evil or Doom will have a boss from numbers 10-12 at the bottom.

Legacy bosses[]

How to obtain the legacy boss maps:

To get the Baramos map, you need to complete quest #62.
To get the Murdaw map, you will need to beat Baramos from level 16+ (The higher the level, the higher the chance of a drop).
To get the Dhoulmagus map, you will need to beat Murdaw from level 16+.
To get the Dragonlord map, you will need to find the normal Grotto Boss Greygnarl and beat him (5% chance of getting the map).
To get the Psaro map, you will need to beat Dragonlord from level 16+.
To get the Nimzo map, you will need to beat Psaro from level 16+.
To get the Malroth map you will need to complete quest #151 (DLC).
To get the Estark map you will need to complete quest #152 (DLC).
To get the Mortamor map you will need to complete quest #158 (DLC).
To get the Zoma map you will need to complete quest #167 (DLC).
To get the Orgodemir map you will need to complete quest #176 (DLC).
To get the Rhapthrone map you will need to complete quest #179 (DLC).
To get the Nokturnus you will need to complete quest #184 (DLC).
