Biography

Dragon Quest X

Madesagora is the mastermind of the crisis in the first version of Dragon Quest X. He forged a pact with Nelgel, giving power to Negel while ordering him to destroy the town of Tenton. Madesagora also attacked the Zedora Kingdom in order to get rid of the legendary hero's bloodline. However, Prince Thomas sacrificed himself to save his sister, Princess Anlucia.

Madesagora also orders his underlings to attack various kingdoms in order to have them destroy the Scarlet of God so that he can obtain the Spirit of Creation. In order to achieve this, he brings Thomas back to life and creates Evil Ann-Lucia. The reason why he wants to obtain the Spirit of Creation is because he needs it to replace the world Rendashia with his own false Rendashia.

In the end, at Naku No Gate, Madesagora confronts the heroes. He first sends Thomas to fight Anlucia, which the demon lord admits is sad to watch, but quickly states that forcing brother and sister to fight each other is a worthy sacrifice for recreating the world. However Thomas is defeated, Madesagora then fights the heroes after the Source of the Ultimate Darkness gives power to him. After his first defeat, Madesagora absorbs some of the power from the Spirit of Creation and transforms into a monstrous dragonic being. However, he is still no match for the heroes. After being defeated again, he tries to obtain the Spirit of Creation, but Thomas sacrifices himself again to prevent it from happening. Anlucia then uses this chance to stab Madesagora, killing him once and for all.

After his death, the demon realm is plunged into war, where three kingdoms are fighting against each other to gain complete control on the demon realm.

Etymology

Daimou is a term for Bigger Bad, unsurprisingly shared with other Dragon Quest Villains like Zoma and Rhapthorne. This is fitting for Madesagora, since he ordered Nelgel to destroy Astoila, and had more monsters waiting in another region in case Nelgel failed to kill the Hero, along with Madesagora himself having his own plans. (Eg, creating a new Renshida to replace the old one.)

Trivia

  • Madesagora is the third villain in the Dragon Quest series to merge/create a new world. The other two are Mortamor and Rhapthorne.
    • In addition, he is the third main villain to have a family member, the first being Estark, and the second being Zoma.
