Mamon is a small mining town in Dragon Quest IV. Incredibly run-down and dilapidated, a sinister, purple haze enshrouds the town, with many of its inhabitants either dead or dying. It is the location of Mamon Mine.

Story[]

Unaware that the ancient demon Estark lay entombed beneath the town, Mamon's inhabitants began mining deeper and deeper underground, unwittingly releasing a miasmatic gas from the demon's crypt. As the fumes began seeping out to the surface, the town's inhabitants began falling ill, slowly dying one by one. The miners continued to dig nonetheless, determined to find gold.

Chapter 4[]

Maya and Meena Mahabala travel to Mamon to find gunpowder, required for their plan to scare the Chancellor in Palais de Léon into revealing Balzack's hiding place. They learn of the strange gas poisoning the town from its inhabitants, many of whom have already began succumbing to it.

Chapter 5[]

The party returns to Mamon after learning of the miners accidentally unearthing Estark's Crypt and awakening its occupant. Finding most of the remaining miners dead from the influx of monsters, the party venture into the lower levels of the mine to defeat Estark before he can return to full strength.
