Dragon Quest II[]
Making her debut in the SNES remake, she is one of the bunny girls in the illusionary Midenhall Castle who became the kingdom’s new minister and provides a bright atmosphere with her dancing. However, after the Scions of Erdrick use the Eye of Rubiss to dispel the illusion, she is revealed to be a Batmandrill who later fights them, but loses.
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[]
Biography[]
Mariella has an expanded role in the HD-2D Remake, where it's revealed she was once a genuine human girl who was an orphan that was adopted by Hargon when he was also once human, eventually becoming a fully devoted monster follower to him and falling in love with him, even wiping human villages off the map to impress him so they can live in the perfect world that would be created by summoning Malroth to destroy the old one. When she suggests sending the Unholy Trinity and her fellow Champions, Atlas, Pazuzu, and Belial back to where they came from, Hargon tells her his devotion was to the Dragon Queen and threatens her with flames to make her go back to work. She makes her first non-flashback appearance in the HD-2D Remake's story alongside her assistant Toadalitarian and 4 Women o’ war in the Mermaids' Sanctuary, where he urges his lady not to kill the Mermaid Queen, despite both of them being responsible for the disappearance of the Mermaids from their hometown of Mersea. Later on, the Scions of Erdrick can fight her in the Mermaid Shrine. She also reprises her role as a bunny girl in the illusionary Midenhall Castle, albeit retaining her bright red hair, though after the Scions of Erdrick dispel the illusion with the Eye of Rubiss just like in previous versions of the game, she initially retains the bunny girl disguise, but instead berates Gawain, Caradoc, Peronel, and Matilda for not accepting the seemingly perfect world and their own personal flaws before turning back into her true monster form and fights them again, though she loses once again.

Dragon Quest Builders 2[]
Mariella appears in Rendarak’s decayed Midenhall Castle, playing the same role as she did in Dragon Quest II from the SNES remake onwards, though the battle is now Warwick as a Silvapithecus with a Wrecktor, 2 Knight abhorrents, and 3 Dragonlord Vis magers.
