Meditation is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Heals the user for 500 HP.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest III 2D-HD[]

Only appearing in the game's 2D-HD Remake, it is learned by Erdrick at level 28. It costs 5 MP to use for the first time since Treasures, and is used by Squidzillas, Great keepers, and Pandora's boxes in battle.

Dragon Quest IV[]

Making its debut, Psaro the Manslayer uses this ability during his later transformations during the final boss fight. In the remakes, it is also used by Ashtaroth's first phase.

Dragon Quest V[]

Meditation is learned by several monster companions and costs 0 MP to use. It is also used by Nimzo in the final battle.

Dragon Quest VI[]

Meditation can only be learned by advancing to rank 5 of the Hero vocation and costs 0 MP once again. It is also used by Mortamor in his first form and Belleau, as well as learned by recruited Rockbombs at level 30, though only in the SNES version.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Meditation is learned by advancing to rank 1 of the Druid vocation and by mastering the Rockbomb vocation, costing 0 MP to use once again. It is also used by Orgodemir in his final forme during the true final battle, Captain catastrophes, and Major disasters.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

An enemy only skill for the first since its debut, Rhapthorne, the Lord of the Dragovians, and Silver Dragon use this ability in battle.

Dragon Quest IX[]

Meditation is learned by Martial Artists for 82 skill points of the Focus skill tree.

It heals the user for around 80 health and can be used inside a battle as well as outside a battle and it costs 3 MP to use. Though it can only heal the user, it is still very useful as it is one of the few healing techniques that can be used in different vocations (once it is acquired) and can serve as an auxiliary healing technique.

It is also used by Vermil lions, Corvus, Tyrannosaurus Wrecks, and Tyrannosaura Wrecks, as well as Nimzo, Psaro, and Rhapthorne once again. The bosses' versions of this skill heals for 500 health instead of the normal 80 health.

Dragon Quest X[]

Meditation is learned by investing 90 skill points into the Martial Artist's Focus skill tree, and by investing 12 skill points into a recruited Golem's Protection Power skill tree and costs 5 MP to use. The healing is also affected by Tension, making it far more useful than in previous games. It is also used by the Ark Chimera, Naumannborgs, Evil ganeshas, and Yarn, in addition to Vermil Lions and Corvus once again. In the Offline version of the game, it is learned by the Hero in the Martial Artist vocation at level 30 and by investing 5 skill points into Mjoll's Powerful Character Builder.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Once again an enemy only skill, it is used by Calasmos, Mortamammoth, Orgodelotl, Nelgelas, and the End of Time in battle, in addition to Naumannborgs and Evil Ganeshas once again.

Dragon Quest of the Stars[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is a skill for the Slaying rod and can also be equipped to any weapon.

Dragon Quest: Scan Battlers[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it appears as a skill for Schwarzchuld.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Learned by Dragurns at level 22 and Boss trolls at level 46, it acts the same as in previous appearances and costs 21 MP to use. A scroll of this ability can be obtained by clearing Chapter 18 Episode 9: The First Fiend and Stage 7 of Carver's Battle Road. It is also one of Mason's abilities when he is summoned by the Hero's Call Ally skill.

Dragon Quest Treasures[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by Cyber bullies, Ruby golems, and Tanzaknights, costing 5 MP for the first time since the Monsters series.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[]

Acting the the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by investing 10 skill points into the Calasmos talent, 20 skill points into the Aamon Mordegon, Lord of Shadows talents, 30 skill points into the Nimzo and Fallen Angel Corvus talents, 50 skill points into the Nelgel the Netherfiend and Rhapthorne talents, 70 skill points into the Psaro the Manslayer talent, 75 skill points into the Altruist talent, 85 skills points into the Healer, Martial Maven and Mortamor talents, 100 skill points into the Good Knight talent, and 150 skill points into the Musclehead talent, costing 35 MP to use once again.
