Metal Slash is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Ensures that it will damage a Metal slime monster by dealing one extra point of damage. When they are not present, the skill will also deal 50% more damage to mechanical monsters.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest III 2D-HD[]

Only appearing in the game's 2D-HD Remake, it is learned by Warriors at level 39 and costs 6 MP to use for the first time since Walk.

Dragon Quest IV[]

Only appearing In the remakes, it is learned by Psaro at level 40 or earlier depending on the Master of Monsterkind's Wisdom, and costs 0 MP to use.

Dragon Quest VI[]

Making its debt, Metal Slash is learned by Lizzie at level 20, while other characters can obtain it by mastering the Gladiator vocation. It costs 0 MP to use and is also used by Überkilling machines, Zombie gladiators, Zozagel, and Nokturnus in battle.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Acting the same as in VI, it is learned at Rank 6 of the Gladiator vocation and Rank 2 of the Champion, Hero, Automaton, and Ersatz Estark vocations. It costs 0 MP to use once again, and is also used by Ceramic sergeants in battle.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

Learned by investing 30 skill points into the Hero's Sword skill tree and 22 skill points for Angelo's Sword skill tree, it acts the same as in previous appearances and costs 0 MP to use once again.

Dragon Quest IX[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is learned with 13 skill points invested into the Sword skill tree and now costs 2 MP to use.

If the enemy being attacked is not a metal slime enemy, then this ability is functionally equivalent to a normal attack. Otherwise, the enemy in question takes 1 or 2 damage (provided that no critical hit is dealt and the metal enemy does not evade the attack).

If a Falcon blade or an Über falcon blade is equipped, then the ability is performed twice in succession, thus dealing 4 damage at most (assuming no critical hits).

Dragon Quest X[]

Only appearing in the Offline version of the game, it is learned by investing 5 skill points into Hussar's Swords Character Builder, but otherwise acts the same as in previous appearances and costs 2 MP to use once again.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by investing 12 skill points into the Luminary, ErikSylvando, and Hendrik's Swords Character Builders  but now also ignores evasion and the Dazzle affliction. It costs 2 MP to use once again, and is also used alongside Erik's Metalicker for the Metal Medley Pep Power, and Hendrik's Hatchet Man for the Executioner Pep Power.

Dragon Quest of the Stars[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is the main skill for the Metal slime sword and can also be equipped to other sword weapons.

Dragon Quest Walk[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned at level 15 when wielding the Mountaincleaver, level 10 when wielding the Banesword's blade, Metal slime sword and Sword of Kings weapons, and already learned when wielding the Liquid metal sword, costing 6 MP to use.

Dragon Quest Champions[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is already learned when wielding the Metal slime sword and costs 12 MP to use.
