Mintos is a town in Dragon Quest IV. Located on the northern part of the southeastern continent, its main attraction is a large inn owned by renowned businessman Conrad 'Ilton.
Synopsis[]
The inn dominates the town, easily being its largest structure. To the south is a row of market stalls selling various goods, as well as a town square; it is here where 'Ilton gives his daily business lectures, offering a treasure map to whomever can pass his test.
Story[]
Upon arriving in Mintos, Hank Hoffman, Jr. takes his leave of the party, to pursue his aspirations of apprenticing under 'Ilton.
As the party explores the town, they discover a bedridden Kiryl at the inn, attended by Borya. The elderly mage tells them that Alena has set off for the Empire of Parthenia, famed for its medicinal plants, in hopes of finding a cure for Kiryl's sickness. Concerned for the Tsarevna's safety, he requests the party look for her, joining them in their efforts.
After securing the feverfew root from Parthenia, the party heads back to Mintos, finding Alena has returned ahead of them. They adminster the cure to Kiryl, and he makes a speedy recovery. As the group learn that Alena and her companions are also looking for Psaro the Manslayer, they decide to team up.

Version differences[]
- In the NES version, Hank Hoffman, Jr. stays in the party until Alena and Kiryl join, whereas the remakes see him leaving as soon as the party first arrives in Mintos. Additionally he will go on to leave Mintos to found the Immigrant Town at the site of the Desert Bazaar.
- In the remakes Borya needs to be recruited for the party to begin searching for Kiryl's cure in Parthenia; in the NES version the player can avoid recruiting him until after they return with the feverfew root.
- In the mobile versions of the game, Mintos needs to be revisited during the creation of the Immigrant Town. After the magic key is obtained, Hoffman will request the party seek out a couple by the name of Rocky and Adrian, who can be found in the inn and church respectively. Following their recruitment, he expresses curiosity as to how Conrad 'Ilton is doing. Upon speaking with 'Ilton during the day, he will recommend the services of one of his merchants, who is located south of the row of shops.
