Dragon Quest Wiki

The Mirror bosses are a set of boss monsters in Dragon Quest Swords which are available only after completing the main story plot by defeating Xiphos the Deathbringer and saving Avalonia. The term 'Mirror bosses' was created by fans in order to refer to this set of boss monsters specifically. The name derives from the fact that each of the bosses are accessed via a mirror in Olde Reflectory. Defeating all of the mirror bosses unlocks Payback Mode.

(Silver) Mirror Bosses[]

(Purple and Gold) Mirror Bosses[]

(accessible only after defeating Valgirt)

(Purple and Aquamarine) Mirror Boss[]

  • Edahs' Sophix (accessible only after defeating the 3 previous bosses)

  • The purple mirror bosses weren't in the original version of Dragon Quest Swords and were added in international versions of the game, which means that Valgirt is the last mirror boss the player fights in the Japanese version of the game.
  • Considering that all the Mirror Bosses are fought in an alternate version of Avalonia, it's actually possible that they hail from a world where Xiphos (or rather Edahs 'Sohpix) succeeded in taking over the world.
  • Valgirt is the only mirror boss to truly unique, as he's the only boss not to be a stronger version of other bosses.
  • Clank 'n' Knalc are the only Mirror boss(es) who fights in a group, being two knights who fight alongside each other.
  • Edahs 'Sohpix is the only boss where the player has to fight several bosses in sequence.
  • King Latem is the only mirror boss to be fought under a time limit.
