Dragon Quest Wiki

Monster Master (Monster Wrangler in III HD-2D) is a vocation in the Dragon Quest series.

Though one of the weaker vocations statistically, the Monster Master makes up for its poorer physical and magical attributes by learning group-hit attacks such as breath skills. Much like a Dancer's repertoire, the Monster Master's skills eventually meet heavy resistance as the player progresses through the main game.

It is possible to get monsters also with failing jenny and musk if you had changed from Monster Wrangler.

Main games[]

Dragon Quest III HD-2D[]

The Monster Wrangler was included in the third remake of the third game in the series, utilizing the design seen in X. Their stats and equipment pool are unknown, but they have been shown to use a mixture of monster abilities and healing in preview footage.

Dragon Quest VI[]

The M.M. suffers considerable reductions to their strength, resilience, HP, and MP in all versions of VI, befitting a starting vocation characters are not meant to spend too much time in. Various breath skills are learned through the profession, in addition to the Puff! spell upon mastery.

In the original version of VI, having a master in the party activates the chance that a monster will join you upon its defeat, however this function was dropped in the Nintendo DS remake in lieu of Slime Buddies. Monster Master is one of the prerequisites for the Ranger vocation (along with Merchant and Thief).
