Nagaland is a one of the major landmasses of the world of Astoltia in Dragon Quest X, and homeland of the Dragon race. Its fast-travel object is the Mega Zoomstone, although it first needs to be upgraded through a sidequest.
Originally a floating continent, when the patron deity of the Dragons, Nadraga, was corrupted by the evil of Jagonuba, Nagaland and its inhabitans had to be sealed into a pocket dimension, the Void of Condemnation, in order to contain the rogue deity; furthermore, to maintain the seal, not only most of the Divine Beasts of the world, except for Tenma Falchion, had to be left on the sundered land in order to ensure the survival of the now trapped dragon people, but furthermore, Nagaland itself had to be split into five different realms, each one of them becoming separate landmasses floating into the void while being ravaged by an out-of-control element and the passage towards a different realm blocked by towers containing riddles and tests:
- the fire flagelled Flame Realm, where the Sacred Bird can now be found. The head of Nadraga, in the form of a rock formation, was sealed there.
- Holy city of Ejarna, the biggest settlement found in the Flame Realm, and main base of operation for the Cult of Nadraga.
- Apeka village, the closest village to the abode of the Sacred Bird.
- Matil village, Estelle's old home, which was wiped out by an epideminc when she was a child.
- the frozen Ice Realm, where the tiny Shinalidy hides. The spine of Nadraga, in the form of a rock formation, was sealed there.
- the Dark Realm shrouded in perpetual night, where Pachatica resides. The hand of Nadraga, in the form of a rock formation, was sealed there.
- the submerged Water Realm substained by the support of divine beast Kashal. The ribs of Nadraga, in the form of a rock formation, were sealed there.
- the wind-swept Storm Realm, where Amakamushika roams free. It later became the main base of operations for the Knights of the Gale, a group of Dragons formed by Crow and the Hero's sibling, who, aware of the true corrupt nature of the Cult of Nadraga, opposed the organization in order to avoid the resurrection of Nadraga. The wings of Nadraga, in the form of a rock formation, were sealed there.
As for the Dragon's own Divine Beast, Prify, she was created by Nadraga as his last benevolent act, having realized that the demonic miasma given to him by Jagonuba would eventually corrupt him, and possibly destroy Nagaland should he ever be defeated. As such Prify was left sleeping for many eons in Nagaland, waiting for the moment when she sould need to awaken in order to absorb the miasma and neutralize it. Priestess Estelle's personal room in the great temple at the Holy City of Ejarna is known as Estelle’s Place.
Eventually the seal of the gate to the pocket dimension, the Abyss Gate. was broken, and after Nadraga and the malevolent cult worshipping him, were defeated for good, relations between Nagaland and the rest of Astoltia began anew, albeit slowly due to the Dragon tribes needing to first resolve the many issues plaguing their homeland after so many years of being separated from one another, these efforts of reunification being spearheaded by the now reformed Cult of Nadraga, now renamed the Nagaland Association. Some Dragons even moved into the newly rebuilt Tenton village.
