Biography[]
While he is alluded to various times throughout the game, he does not make an official appearance until 4.1 of the game.
The king of the militant Valdista Fortress, Nerodus rose up in strength so much, that he was also crowned as one of Great Demon Kings of the Netherworld. With the power of immortality, being able to coming back after every defeat, Nerodus was said to be invincible; after defeating each one of them, Nerodus shared his immortal power with twelve powerful monsters, establishing his 12 Demon Generals. 1000 years ago, he launched his invasion of Astoltia with his armies, but the legendary Hero Alvin was able to stop him, although at a great cost due to the absence of his Ally, Kamil.
History however, was slighty changed by the arrival and intervention of the time-travelling Hero, and Nerodus, having now been defeated by Alvin with the assistance of the Hero, ended up instead having his powers and immortal body taken by Padre for Kyronos's coming, becoming a part of the wannabe god; as such, Nerodus was defeated once and for all only when Kyronos himself was killed, and while Alvin and Kamil still met a tragic end, the circumstances were different from the original ones.
During the Beyond the Heavens story quest, the 10th anniversary celebration, it is revealed that Razerburn, the creator of Nelgel, was one of his followers.
Archfiend Valeria was indirectly greatly influenced by Nerodus's own life; following Nerodus's death, Valeria's parents died in the civil war that erupted in the Netherworld as a consequence of the lack of a supreme ruler, which not only left her an orphan, but she also ended up becoming a child soldier during the bloody conflict. This, along with the loss of all her fellow child soldiers, lead Valeria to desire to surpass Nerodus' legacy, thusly relentlessly raising up in strength until she herself became the ruler of Valdista, and planning to eventually also become the Great Demon King and end all conflict, although ultimately, her grudge against the world made her unqualified for the position in the eyes of the Demon Oracle.
