Dragon Quest V

Learned by Sancho at level 31 and by Dwight at level 10 in the remakes.

Dragon Quest VI

Making its debut, Nose for Treasure is learned by advancing to rank 7 of the Thief vocation.

Dragon Quest VII

Nose for Treasure is learned by mastering the Thief vocation in the PS1 version, and by advancing to rank 5 of the aforementioned vocation in the 3DS remake.

Dragon Quest VIII

Yangus can cast Nose For Treasure after allocating 16 skill points into his "Humanity" skill.

Dragon Quest IX

This ability is learned with 42 skill points invested into the Acquisitiveness skill tree. Unfortunately, it only checks the remaining red chests, not blue ones, severely limiting its usefulness.
