Power Throw is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VIII[]
Making its debut, it is learned by investing 18 skill points into the Hero's Boomerang skill tree and deals 80% earth damage to all enemies for the cost of 4 MP. When 52 skill points are invested, the skill is replaced with the Super Throw. In the 3DS remake, Morrie can learn this skill the same way the Hero does.
Dragon Quest IX[]
Learned with 7 skill points invested into the Boomerang skill tree, it acts almost the same as in VIII, minus the earth damage attribute and once again costs 4 MP to use.
Dragon Quest X[]
Learned by investing 35 skill points into the Boomerang skill tree, it inflicts 1.2 times more damage than a normal attack on all enemies, however from this game onwards, its power decreases from the second enemy onwards. The power of the skill itself can be increased by 6% with 160 skill points, 10% with 170 skill points, and 15% with 180 skill points, along with the Master Orb system from Version 3 onwards while recruited Slimes can also learn this skill by investing 18 skill points into their boomerang skill trees. It is also used by Rogue Fastfinger in battle.
Dragon Quest XI[]
Learned by investing 13 skill points into Erik's Boomerangs Character Builder, it hits all enemies equally for 120% damage unlike X and costs 4 MP to use for the first time since IX.
Dragon Quest Heroes & Dragon Quest Heroes II[]
Isla learns this skill by investing 4 skill points into her skill tree, and can also be upgraded to Super Power Throw & Über Power Throw, respectively. It costs 11 MP to use, and can mow down enemies in front of the user. Maribel also learns this skill in the sequel, and it acts mostly the same, however, she can throw multiple Power Throws, providing she has sufficient MP on hand.
