Rimuldar is a town located on the southeastern continent of Alefgard. It exists in both Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest III, but is not present in Dragon Quest II, similar to many other Alefgard locations. Rimuldar is the closest town to the final dungeon, in both games it appears in. It is also the first location the hero can purchase magic keys in the original game, making it a significant location to visit.

Rimuldar is the second town saved from the blight, after Cantlin, in Dragon Quest Builders.

Synopsis[]

Dragon Quest[]

Rimuldar is the first location where the hero may purchase keys; this is the primary purpose for visiting, as keys are required in order to complete the game. Rimuldar is also the closest town to the Dragonlord's Castle, but since the game cannot be saved anywhere outside of Tantegel, this fact serves no gameplay significance in the original version of the game. In later versions of the game, if the hero chooses to join the Dragonlord when asked before the final battle, the hero wakes up in Rimuldar after a "bad dream". This places the hero in a location close to the Dragonlord's Castle to facilitate another attempt at the last battle by the player.

Dragon Quest II[]

As with many other towns and villages in Alefgard, Rimuldar has no significant role in the second game, and as such is not accessible, not even appearing on the overworld map; a single forest tile represents where the town should be.

Dragon Quest III[]

Rimuldar is typically the last town visited before the final dungeon in the game. It serves no major plot purpose and contains no required items.

Dragon Quest Builders[]

In this game, Rimuldar consists of different areas that can be reached by using teleportals: the Prickly Wilds, the Ancient Palace, and the Holy Sanctum. The boss of the area is a hades condor.
