The saintess shield is a shield equipment item in the Dragon Quest series. Embellished with the enchanting figure of a holy woman, the shield is often reserved for the fairer sex and greatly reduces elemental damage.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

The saintess shield offers a defense bonus of +46. It can only be equipped by Jessica, as well as Red in the 3DS port, and cuts fire and ice breath by 33.3%.

Recipe: Mirror shield + White shield + Holy water

Dragon Quest IX[]

The shield can now be equipped by Warriors, Priests, Mages, Minstrels, Paladins, Armamentalists, Sages & Luminaries. It is created by combining a Ruinous shield with three phials of Saint's ashes and increases defense by 32, block chance by 6.5% and charm by 54. It has a 3 star rarity and can be sold for 14,000 G.

Dragon Quest X[]

Characters need to be level 80 before they can equip the Saintess shield. It increases defence by +7, block rate by +4.5%, magical might by +3, magical mending by +3, style by +10, and weight by +12. It will reduce all spell damage by 5%.

The Saintess shield has a blocking bonus of +30 and can only be equipped by Aurora. It can be purchased after defeating the Barbatos at Yggdrasil for 8,400 gold and can be sold for 4,200 gold.
