The seed of life (formerly known as the LifeAcorn or Lifeforce Nut) is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series that permanently raises the maximum HP to whoever eats it. The amount varies from game to game. This seed can be found in treasure chests, pots, drawers and bags. It can also be stolen from or dropped by certain enemies. They cannot be bought.

Dragon Quest[]

Although absent from the original NES version, they can be found in the SNES and Gameboy Color remakes of Dragon Quest. Due to text limitations in the Gameboy Color remake of Dragon Quest, seed of life was renamed to LifeAcorn. It can increase a character's HP by 4-6 points.

Dragon Quest IV[]

This seed can increase a character's maximum HP by 4-6 points.

This seed can increase a character's maximum HP by 3-4 points.

Dragon Quest IX[]

Seeds of life can be found as treasure, or as a rare drop from enemies such as the Moosifer. It permanently increases a character's HP by 3, but applies only to one vocation.

Dragon Quest Builders[]

They can be given to the player from Secondary Characters, found in treasure chests, or as a reward for some story battles. Fully heals the player when eaten, as well as increasing their health by 5 points

Acquisition[]

  • One is given by Pippa after complete her request to place a torch in a room.
  • One can be found inside a chest in a cave within Cantlin Plains. The cave is south of your first town. Once you approach the chest you will be ambushed by two Dracky.
  • One is given by Pippa after escorting Rollo to your town for the first time.
  • One can be found in a chest at the top of broken up pillar. You will need to repair the pillar to reach the top. The pillar is surrounded by Chimaera.
