Shinnock (formerly known as Foxville) is a location in Dragon Quest IV. Situated between Lakanaba and Ballymoral, it appears to be a small village, but is in fact an illusion conjured up by foxes to trap unsuspecting travellers.

Story[]

While searching for the missing architect Archie O'Tect, Torneko Taloon stumbles upon the mysterious village, only to find the craftsman enamoured by a beautful woman and refusing to leave town. As he travels on to Ballymoral, Torneko learns from a guest at the inn the true nature of Shinnock, as well as how to deal with the tricky foxes - by bringing along a dog.

After being freed from the dungeons of Ballymoral Castle, Finnegan agrees to lend his dog to Torneko as thanks. The merchant returns to Shinnock, dog in tow, and sets it loose upon the village. The foxes' illusion is shattered, and the village disappears, with Archie being released from its spell.
