The sizeable scissors (also known as the giant shears or the shears) are a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series.

Characteristics[]

In some entries, this unusual weapon consists of a giant pair of scissors, which attaches to the wielder's arm via a device that allows them to open and close the blades in order to chop up foes. When the shears made a reappearance in the series starting with Dragon Quest X, they gained a handle, allowing the wielder to swing around the scissors like a sword.

They can be purchased for 3,700 gold and sold for 2,775 in the weapon/armour shops in Asham and Ibis in the NES versions of the game. In the remakes, the scissors have an attack bonus of +47 and cost 4,700 gold to purchase from Baharata and Mur.
