Sleep Attack (Sleep Sock in the Joker games) is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series.

Description[]

Launches a melee attack that may knock the target unconscious.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest II[]

Making its debut, it is used by Mummies, Men o' war, Merluscs, and Malroth to try and put the Scions of Erdrick to sleep, in addition to damaging them, though only in the NES version for the latter two.

Dragon Quest III[]

Acting the same from this game onwards, it is used by Morphean Mushrooms to put Erdrick and his companions to sleep.

Dragon Quest IV[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is used by Bantamweights, Vampire battlers, Bodkin bowyers, Fat bats, and Master Kung in battle, as well as Decayurions in the remakes.

Dragon Quest V[]

Sleep Attack does not cost MP to use and is learned the following monsters:

It is also used by Drooling ghouls, Hula ghouls, Snake ch-arm-ers, and Morphean molluscs in battle.

Dragon Quest VI[]

An enemy only skill once again from this game onwards, it is used by Hell gladiators and Pot shots in battle.

Dragon Quest VII[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances, it is used by Mousenaps, Decayurions, Bagley and even Robber barons in the 3DS remakes.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Terror tabbies, Dark skeletons, Dead bowdyies, and Gold nugcats, as well as Mummies, Morphean Mushrooms, Bodkin Bowyers, and Hell Gladiators once again.

Dragon Quest IX[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Parched peckerels, as well as Morphean Mushrooms once again.

Dragon Quest X[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Bloodbonnets, Cosmo ghouls, Muddy fingers, Incubuses, Devil marus, Space demons, and Ayashiitakes, as well as Mummies, Morphean Mushrooms, Drooling Ghouls, Bodkin Bowyers, and Hell Gladiators once again.

Dragon Quest XI[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is used by Bite bulbs and Dazey, as well as Morphean Mushrooms and Bodkin Bowyers once again.

Dragon Quest Walk[]

Acting the same as in previous appearances once again, it is learned by recruited Mummy boys and Funghouls at level 30, and Barbarus at level 10, costing 20 MP to use.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Already learned by Gargoyles, Mummy Boys, Mummies, Carnivines, Fandangows, and Bobongas when they are recruited, it acts the same as in previous appearances once again and costs 12 MP to use.

Dragon Quest Champions[]

Appearing as a Coup de Grâce for the Sleepy stick in this spinoff entry in addition to a usual skill, it deals 60% non-elemental physical damage to all random enemies 4 times while potentially putting them to sleep. It is also used by Bodkin Bowyers once again in battle.
