Smackback is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Dragon Quest VII[]
Making its debut, it is learned by Maribel when she reaches level 5, a hybrid ability of the Martial Artist and Jester vocations, and by mastering the Slime vocation. It can send an attack back at the user, which is useful for the Hackrobat and Grody Gumpdrops boss fights. It is not seen in the 3DS remake, however.
Dragon Quest Heroes II[]
Reappearing after a long hiatus, it is learned by investing 6 skill points when Maribel is at level 12 or higher. It costs 8 MP to use and can attract enemies, while also countering attacks. However, it doesn't have much power when attacking enemies themselves.
