Stone's Throw is a recurring ability in the franchise. It tosses rocks at a group of enemies.

Appearances

Dragon Quest IV Remakes

Only appearing in the remakes, it is used by Scarewells and Well wishers to deal non earth attribute damage to the Chosen.

Dragon Quest VI

Making its debut, it is learned by advancing to rank 3 of the Thief vocation and deals 10 to 25 damage, while consuming no MP at all. It is also used by Well wishers, Scarewells, and Prison guards in battle. It can also be learned by recruited Feralballs at level 7, though only in the SNES version.

Dragon Quest VII

While the skill acts the same, it is learned by advancing to rank 4 of the Thief vocation and rank 1 of the Well wisher vocation. More monsters can use this ability against enemies, like Total nutters, Damned wells, Mad moais, Mega moais, Swagman, Bagley, and Putric Stinkenheimer, as well as Well wishers and Scarewells once again. In the 3DS remake, it is learned by advancing to rank 3 of the Thief vocation, and rank 6 of the Sailor vocation, in addition to hitting slightly harder for 20~35 damage.

Dragon Quest VIII

A Fisticuffs skill, it is learned by the Hero and Jessica by investing 17 skill points for the former and 19 skill points for the latter. The skill is slightly weaker in this installment, dealing only 8~20 damage, but can be increased with Tension. It is also used by Hoods in battle. Morrie and Red can learn this ability for 7 skill points for the former and 18 skill points for the latter.

Dragon Quest IX

Stone's Throw is learned with 3 skill points invested into the Fisticuffs skill tree. The skill returns to its previous damage range, but now possesses an element modifier to deal less or more damage depending on the enemy's resistance to Soil techniques. It is also used by Mudrakers in battle.

Dragon Quest X

Learned when 7 skill points are invested into the Fisticuffs skill tree, it now attacks one enemy and costs 1 MP to use, while dealing about 10 ~ 24 fixed damage. It can be improved with the Master Orb upgrade function from Version 3 onwards, dealing 120 damage to an enemy and 6 fixed damage to Metal slime monsters.
