The Supreme Sage is a minor character in the Dragon Quest series.

The sage can be found inside a book within Gittingham Palace, having initially sealed himself into it along with a powerful demon he battled in the distant past. He is the one who helps the Hero unlock the Sage vocation, as well as the one who issues the subsequent sage-related quests.
The act of sealing away the demon seems to have significantly drained his strength, as he is constantly struggling to stay awake during his conversations with the Hero.
According to the bestiary entires for Goodybag and Mad moai, he created them, the former being a birthday gift for the king of an ancient desert kingdom while the latter being modeled after his face.
