Temple Raydamethes is a dungeon in Dragon Quest X and a monster in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest X[]
Housed within a giant floating fake sun, the fiery temple was used 500 years ago by Razerburn to suck the souls of the dead from the ground, and use them to create a powerful evil overlord, Nelgel. With the fake sun scorching the land, it caused great strife for the people of the world, even causing the human refugees to usurp the fortified Ogre city of Gardlund from its legitimate inhabitants in order to preserve its water reserves for themselves.
Eruju's father tried to stop him, but he failed and was killed; when Eruju himself inherithed the abilities of his father, it was the Hero who travelled to Raydamethes to stop Razerburn. Defeated, Razerburn detonated the false sun, finally restoring peace to Astoltia for the time being.
The ritual was nevertheless a success, and 500 years later, Nelgel would be born, using the now fire-less cobbled together remains of Raydamethes as his own base of operation, requiring the Hero the assistance of Flukka, the new heir of boat making, in order to once again reach it.
