Tessie Taloon (Neta in the NES version), Torneko's wife, is a character from Dragon Quest IV. She minds her husband's shop while he is away.

Story

Tess is a very loving wife who is tolerant of Torneko's wanderlust and constant forays far from home. At the beginning of Chapter 3, Tessie lives with her family in Lakanaba as Torneko tries to earn enough money to move them out of the backwater and open a shop of their own, taking care of their son when he's away and dutifully making a packed lunch for him each day if he manages to make it home. Tessie is an excellent chef, as her lunches act like medicinal herbs when consumed.

When Torneko finally does open his own store towards the end of the Chapter, it's Tessie who takes over its operation. She is able to sell products her husband delivers to her for 1.5 times their regular sale price, showing impressive business skills. In Chapter 5 she runs a Vault and Bank.

In the remake, her son's name is revealed to be Tipper.

Notes

  • Regarding her appearance over the years, Tess has gone from a middle-aged woman wearing an apron and having short blonde hair tucked under a kerchief to a younger brunette with a long ponytail.
    • Tessie is considered to be very beautiful in either appearance, leading to disgruntlement among some of the villagers of Lakanaba of how a bog-trotter like Torneko managed to woo her.
