Thanatos' shield (Reaper's Shield in Dragon Quest of the Stars) is a recurring cursed item in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest II[]
The cursed shield is found in the Cave to Rendarak, and also randomly dropped by eyelashers. It can be equipped by the Prince of Midenhall.
Dragon Quest VIII[]
The Thanatos' shield can be equipped by the Hero, Angelo, Yangus, or Morrie. Since it is cursed, it's better to polish it into a Goddess shield, with a urn of saint's ashes in the Alchemy Pot.
It is found in a chest inside the Dragovian Path, and can be sold for 3,650 Gold, though this is not advisable, as only one is available. In the 3DS version, the Thanatos' shield becomes more common, as another one can be found in a second chest in the Memories Lane, and furthermore, it has become the new common drop of the Hell's gatekeepers.
