Manga differences

  • Hadlar's belt has hexagons instead of pentagrams. The six-pointed star of evil is replaced by a hexagon too, as done in recent manga editions.
  • Hadlar now silently allows Avan to say his farewells to his students.
  • The close-quarters fight between Avan and Hadlar is extended; including Hadlar uppercutting Avan, maybe to mirror how Dai did the same to him with his Dragon Crest.
  • Avan does not bleed from the forehead anymore and now sees a vision of Flora before casting his self-sacrifice spell, possibly inspired by a similar situation in a flashback of chapter 308.
  • Removed Brass's flashback of Dai's Dragon Cret against the Killing Machine to protect Leona
  • The tomb of Avan is added near the rock cut by Dai, showing what happened to his sword and glasses.
  • Removed Hadlar's presentation of the Dark Army structure. Monsters that did not yet exist when the manga was published are added.

Trivia

  • Kigan-jou (Demon Rock Castle) got changed to Sovereign Rock Castle in the Crunchyroll/Hulu localisation from Square Enix, while the manga and perfect book used Kigan-jou as English writing.
  • An impact frame of Dai's Avan Strash is shaped like the Dragon Crest
  • Avan's Kamikazee spell was left untranslated as "Megante", contrary to all other spells, maybe because the usual term was considered not politically correct. Dai's "Hyadain" spell was translated as "Kacrack", instead of its usual Kercrack localisation.
