"Maam's Turmoil" (マァムの想い, "Maamu no Omoi") is the seventh episode of the 2020 2D and CG animated TV series, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. It aired on 14 November 2020.

Summary[]

Characters[]

Monsters[]

Spells[]

Abilities[]

  • Earth Slash (Dai, unnamed but confirmed on a filler page)

Items[]

Eyecatch[]

  • Magic Bullet Gun
  • Boom; explosion-type spell

Manga and 1991 Anime differences[]

  • Removed mentions of gunpowder and Popp talking about Maam shooting a Frizz before.
  • Crocodine's eye slicing is not explicitly shown and less gory. Dai complaining that Popp ran away is moved after the fight instead of in the middle
  • Readded Nayle Village scene that were cut from the previous episode: Maam is compared to a monster but the kid is not hit and Maam explains to Dai and Popp about Village situation with the men gone to Romos Castle instead of discussing it with the Elder
  • Leira now states that she fought the Dark Lord "long ago" while the manga stated "about 15 years", probably to avoid timeline issues later on.
  • Removed the flashback of every monsters except Gomechan going berserk
  • Maam now presents Dai's party to the Elder. Popp's thoughts about Maam are cut short.
  • Removed Brass talking about Gomechan's going away before Zaboera appears
  • Extended Zaboera's discussion with Crocodine, such as mentioning Hadlar's arms bing severed. Crocodine's armour still has its battle damage.
  • Maam is now carrying fishes instead of wood
  • In his magic training, Dai now tries two Frizzes and one Crack while he only did one Frizz in the manga
  • The night scene is now cut in two, better showing that the party stayed 3 days in the village as stated in the databook. Removed Popp saying that he was looking at Maam's chest when Dai notice he looked at her; also removed the mention of Puff-Puff. Does not cut the main village characters sleeping.
  • Extended the scene of Maam joining the party, now showing that she learned about Avan's sacrifice.

Trivia[]

  • Crocodine is likely using his Royal Rumble technique to explode the ground and escape. The anime displayed the attack with purple effects and thus it remains to be seen if the actual technique is shown similarly.
  • The subtitles use the epithet "commander" instead of "legat" which was used in the previous episode
