Tidal Wave is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest IV Remakes[]
Only appearing in the remakes, it is used by Shelligators in battle.
Dragon Quest VI[]
Making its debut, it is learned by advancing to Rank 4 of the Sage vocation, and deals 30~40 woosh-type damage and is affected by Insulatle, but cannot be used in doors or underwater when used by party members, and has a 33% chance to fail upon use. It is also learned by Shelley at level 17, and is used by Thriller waves and Killer waves in battle against their enemies.
Dragon Quest VII[]
Tidal Wave is learned by mastering the Sailor vocation in the original. While the skill acts mostly the same as in VI, it can now be used in dungeons. It is also used by Gracos, the Water Spirit, Shelligators, and the Dread herring in the Temple Palace's basement in battle. In the 3DS remake however, the skill is removed out of respect to the victims of the 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake. Instead, monsters use Jolly Rager for the same damage range.
Dragon Quest IX[]
Tidal Wave is used by the Lleviathan (Actually the Fygg changed Dylan Jones) in battle, causing 30 to 37 damage. A stronger version of this skill makes its debut in this game.
