Biography[]

Dragon Quest X[]

After Archfiend Valeria was defeated by the Ancient Demon summoned by Zexus, she ended up in the Gaussia Woodlands north of the castle, alive, but wounded. She made her way to a spring inside a cave and drank from it. However, the spring was cursed, turning anyone who drank its waters into the thing they feared most. In Valeria's case, she was transformed into her younger self, showing that her weak, frail childhood was the thing she feared most. Not long after, she made her way to the nearby Topol Village, which was inhabited by simple, peace-loving folk. After failing to protect the children at her orphanage from her retainer Jair's betrayal, as well as failing to avenge her fallen soldiers at Zexus, Valeria felt that she was no longer worthy of ruling Valdista, and chose to live out the rest of her life in Topol as a child, taking on the name Tila and pretending to have lost her memory, and she was taken in by a kindly old woman.

When the Hero, Illusia, and Beltro arrive in Topol in search of Valeria, they find Tila teaching a group of children how to make a lamp out of flowers. One look at Tila sent chills down Beltro's spine, giving him the suspicion that the girl was in fact Valeria. After investigating the village and learning about the cursed spring, as well as finding a way to undo the curse, the group corner Tila at the spring, offering her a Fruit of Ra to see if she actually was Valeria. Tila continued to pretend she was just a harmless girl until Beltro got more aggressive, attempting to force her to eat the Fruit of Ra. Tila then shoved Beltro away with incredible force, showing that even transformed, she still retained most of her strength. The confrontation was interrupted by the sound of alarm bells coming from the village and the arrival of one of the Gannon Brothers, a pair of sadistic, torture-loving monsters that were banished from Valdista by Valeria in the past, who had come looking for Beltro to kill him and take over Valdista for themselves. As the Hero's group holds of the younger Gannon Brother, Tila runs back to Topol, where the older Gannon Brother and his gang of thugs terrorizes the villagers. Sensing his younger brother's death at the hands of the Hero's party, the older brother flies in to a rage and blames the old lady who had been taking care of Tila. Just as he is about to execute her, Tila steps in and blocks his sword with a simple frying pan. When the Hero and Illusia arrive at the village, Tila yells at Illusia to throw the Fruit of Ra to her. Tila then eats the fruit, turning her back into Valeria, and proceeds to single-handedly take out the older Gannon Brother and his entire gang.
