The Ultimate Dragon is a Superboss who appears in Dragon Quest VIII and is the final dragon to be fought in the Dragovian Trials. It was the strongest boss in the PS2 version of the game only to be surpassed by the Memories Lane bosses and Estark in the 3DS version.

Trivia[]
- His appearance and colour scheme is strikingly similar to the Dragonlord. This is most noticeable in one of his animations where his head turns sideways, making him resemble Dragonlord.
- Ultimate Dragon and Edahs 'Sohpix are the only superbosses where the player refights several bosses before fighting them. Furthermore, both monsters happen to be palette swaps of other monsters (Dragovian Lord and Xiphos).
- Ultimate Dragon, Xenlon and End of Time have been surpassed in strength by bosses added in remakes of their games of origin: (Estark, GranDragn and Timewyrm).
