OK, so Dragon Quest XI is a fantastic game. I’m not gonna lie here.

As I play the game mostly blind, let’s just say I’m finding a lot of inconsistencies in our coverage so far.

The Hero is the Luminary; the Luminary is the Hero. It’s both a title and the de facto name of the Hero. There’s not enough information on the title, so I propose merging the two. Both are separate and distinct from the recurring Luminary class.

I’m also trying to stitch together the various events without putting too much spoilage into the stories, but that’s just about impossible. The game is still new enough that everything is a spoiler. Therefore, spoiler tags must be deployed at all times. I’m a little concerned with the behavior of these tags, as they hide practically everything.

Which brings me to my next point: names are getting used, reused, and in some cases abused. Not all of them are direct callbacks to other games in the series, but I’ve been creating disambiguation pages for the most obvious splits. We don’t have the tools quite yet that will allow us to clean up the mess. I recruited a guy with some technical chops, but he’s quite busy with a few other wiki projects. I’ve heard he’s a big fan of Ratchet and Clank. He’s got a space there.

Other than that, it seems, things are going pretty well. I certainly wish we had more Britons on staff to help with spelling and grammar. Even with the aid of my iPad here, let’s be honest: British English is a hard thing to get used to. And this is coming from an American.

All the best,
