Hi, welcome to Dragon Quest Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Mandrake mercenary page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! Ellis99 (talk) 19:46, June 16, 2016 (UTC)

Sure. Ellis99 VII & VIII 06:08, June 18, 2016 (UTC)

Hello and asking permission

You found really cool pics of many monsters! Where did you find some of them like the Drakenstein? May I pin them to my board? Frostare (talk) 22:12, August 12, 2016 (UTC)

Be my guest. I found them thorugh the guides of Dragon Quest Monsters 2 Magic Marvelous Key, Joker 3 V Jump Guide, and Dragon Quest X 3.2 guide.Macdawg (talk) 22:23, August 12, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! They could also be useful for the spanish DQ wiki, which I'm also a member of. =)Frostare (talk) 22:29, August 12, 2016 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, could you possibly do more scans of monsters like you used to do, like those mosnters from joker 3 for example? The IT 15 (talk) 02:43, November 18, 2016 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, it's me again. Listen, I like to make a request for your next monster scan, could you do baron von bellycose for me please? Thanks. The IT 15 (talk) 04:03, December 3, 2016 (UTC)

Sure. My pleasure. Macdawg (talk) 12:30, December 3, 2016 (UTC)

Ok, thanx, could you do Pruslas next? Either the joker 2 professional version or the regular IV ds version. The IT 15 (talk) 16:24, December 3, 2016 (UTC)

Sure. Just got the highest quailty I could do with my scanner. Macdawg (talk) 00:21, December 4, 2016 (UTC)

Nice scan, questionable quality but its passable for now. Keep going on those scans, and make them more frequent if you can. The IT 15 (talk) 04:20, December 4, 2016 (UTC)

About the monsters you asked...

Well sure, I can get them if I can find good quality images that I can rip. If there are some images like that that you know about, you can tell me as well. For now, I found another monster I can upload.Frostare (talk) 04:23, December 4, 2016 (UTC)

K. I just found Darth Voodoo, so I'll make sure to upload that. But thank u anyway. Macdawg (talk) 12:08, December 4, 2016 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, hope your holidays were/are great! Thanks so much for uploading some better quality images of Dragon Quest X! May I ask where you found them? Really hope new year goes well for you.Frostare (talk) 04:52, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

I found them from Japanese guides, and had to make sure they were good quailty and stuff like that. Anyway, I sent u mugshots of the monsters I wanted from DQMSL on the Woodus forum messsaging and I also believe a congrats r in order for Toady, a Baramos and Zoma minion for it reappearing in XI. Macdawg (talk) 14:22, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

Yes it is! I loved Toady since DQ3! And some DQ parodies LOL. Anyway, I think I know where that notice is, gonna check it out, thanks!Frostare (talk) 14:56, December 29, 2016 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, I have to ask, is that dragon quest monsters joker 3 pro book on sale now? If so, where can I get it? I'm asking this since you might have it and ripped the Queen Ferz image from it. Thanx. The IT 15 (talk) 19:26, March 11, 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I just got it yesterday. And I have a lot of images you will see. Starting tonight. I'm a man of my word. Macdawg (talk) 05:25, March 12, 2017 (UTC)

Writing style

OK, so you don't agree with me on proper grammar. Such trivial edit wars are not needed. They detract from our purpose here. I didn't come here to get bullied, flamed, or otherwise maimed for writing like an educated person. I think you would do well to learn a thing or two in that respect. Cuz wen u rite like 1 of these kidz who txt all day long, I think it makes a wiki look very unprofessional. Don't you?

Case in point: "flee" vs. "fleeing" vs. "flight". You know that the first means "to run away [from sth.]". "Fleeing" is the present participle of "to flee", which would also be correct in the disputed article. Now, "flight" is something of an odd case. It's the nominal (noun) form of both "to flee" and "to fly"--the act of running AND the act of flying. I honestly don't know what genius came up with making that one word into two different meanings at once, but it is what it is, and we're stuck with it. The way I write in that case, "prone to flight" looks a lot better than "prone to flee" or even "prone to fleeing."

Again, I'm not here to attack you personally, and I look forward to working with all of you. But I'd appreciate it if we didn't get into pointless arguments over differences in writing style. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 01:07, May 14, 2017 (UTC)

Monster sources, please

What guide did you get that Hocus poker art from? Is there going to be more to come? The IT 15 (talk) 00:14, October 3, 2017 (UTC)

Yes, because there will be more, and I got it from the DQXI 3DS SE-MOOK and it was almost easy to miss, and I'm gonna get the DQXI PS4 SE-MOOK to see if I can get more monsters and even if there's a decent amount, I'll just use 3DS V-Jump Guide because the intel states the monsters have art. Every single one of them. (Most likely) Macdawg (talk) 00:38, October 3, 2017 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, Nice job with the additional monster art, what book did you get them from? Also, there are some monster art that don't have a transparent background, so I'm going to make that happen as long as your okay with it. Thanx. The IT 15 (talk) 04:46, November 14, 2017 (UTC)

I got them from the 3DS V-Jump Guide, as I've metioned up above ur reply. Plus there are some monsters that have kanji in the way of the features, like hands or claws, so the idea of transparency without the kanji if possible would be great.Macdawg (talk) 12:49, November 14, 2017 (UTC)

Also, if you can, upload some weapon, shield, armor, item, and accessory images to the fray if you want to. You seen me do it so why not huh? The IT 15 (talk) 04:35, November 17, 2017 (UTC)

I'm fine with monsters, thank you. But I want to see if someone could do some monster art edit like this. Macdawg (talk) 02:05, November 21, 2017 (UTC)

There is a reincarnated monster of the Ursa family, that we call the Panda Ursa and above the previous quote same as usual, please.
Macdawg (talk) 23:38, April 24, 2018 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, thanx for all the monster art work you did, but I'm also wondering if you can scan any weapon art, equipment art, or item art at all? If so that'll be very swell. The IT 15 (talk) 01:40, May 22, 2018 (UTC)

I work for my VA friends, but thank you for honest opinion. Macdawg (talk) 10:42, May 22, 2018 (UTC)

The new images I uploaded for this wiki are from the DQ83DS SE-Mook guide.Macdawg (talk) 18:54, August 1, 2018 (UTC)

Thoughts on taking ownership.

Hello there. I was just wondering if you’ve ever had any thoughts on possibly taking ownership of the wiki. I tried to approach another user on this, but I don’t think he responds to a talk page. For the record, I took over at a sister Square Enix project here and it’s taken off. We’ve almost doubled our content. If you are interested in doing that, you are going to find a link right at the front door of this wiki that’ll take you to Community Central, where you can file a request to take over for an absent administrator. I would file the request myself, but I am not busy enough around here to want to take on management duties. I contacted the previous administrator about a year and a half ago; still no response. Someone has to do something, so you want to take a shot? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 23:05, June 6, 2018 (UTC)

Sure. Where's da link?Macdawg (talk) 23:07, June 6, 2018 (UTC)

Go to the front page here (or any article at all) and click the big Adopt This Wiki button. Once you’re over there at cc, just follow the prompts. That’s really all there is to it. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 23:13, June 6, 2018 (UTC)
Or better yet, just click this dingus and open a request. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 00:28, June 7, 2018 (UTC)

I don't really "improve" or "complete" quality artwork (wih the exception of that Quadrahead horn which was NOT that easy =P), I just take the other recolored monsters and change their colors to the ones that aren't on the wiki yet. I also did that with the Motle Slime and Man o' War to make Mottle Mendslime and Stingsslime, respectively. Sorry, I try my best with what I can. Also, I only feel comfortable with modern, high-quality rips of their relatives in order to deliver the best artwork possible. However, if there exists such rips already with, say, Orkobold and Slot Majinn, I'd be glad to! As long as it does not have new feaures. ;) Frostare (talk) 23:14, July 24, 2018 (UTC)

I understand. I will say though that the Sting Slime, and the Mottle Mendslime look excatly like they do in any DQ guidebook. And yes, if full rips of Yorokobolt, Crazy Bouns, Fat Devil, Panda Ursa, Vamperalla, and other Urnoga monsters that are still at large are there, that's great. Just keep moving forward. And a little headsup, I saw part of what  DQX 4.3 looks like. The Urbea empire has some amazing technology and that dragon thing is up to bat next, potenallty with the Psaro Teracotta Warrior.Macdawg (talk) 22:17, July 29, 2018 (UTC)

Congrats on getting the DQ8 3DS book, could you possibly rip Evil Jessica and maybe some items as well? The IT 15 (talk) 01:45, August 3, 2018 (UTC)

The guide book doesn't have Evil Jessica artwork, it only has a question mark in its place. However, Super Light is getting pretty bevy on DQXI monster art and here's a link for artwork to rip (Even though the monster selection would take forever.) (talk) 01:54, August 3, 2018 (UTC)

And for the items?The IT 15 (talk) 02:11, August 3, 2018 (UTC)

No thank you, but thank you for ur honest opinion.Macdawg (talk) 12:45, August 3, 2018 (UTC)

I didn't even notice you had answered me here. Thank you for your kind words and yes, I'm trying my best to do what I can on my free time. However, my main wiki is the spanish Dragon Quest one and I even have little timee to work on that, I still try my best to support this one.Frostare (talk) 20:56, August 23, 2018 (UTC)

Panda Ursa Artwork

A reincarnated monster me and my friends wanted has reappeared in DQMSL, and we believe the artwork should be ripped. Here some link sources for Monday motavation. Hope everyone has a great Monday getting that Panda. Macdawg (talk) 14:04, August 13, 2018 (UTC)

Monster info upgrades

I have been working on all those monster information and it's hell. Everyone needs to seriously contribute to all these monsters's abilties, drops spells, stats and locations. I can't keep doing it all myself. We need to get all the remianing monster info out of the Dark Ages and into the light. Here are all the links I'm talking about:

Swordzman here. You might notice a few extra controls in your top panel. As one of the top editors, I've promoted you with several advanced editing rights, in order that you can continue to do what you do best and also so you can clean up any loose ends. And let's be honest: my request to adopt just went through, and I'm going to need an assist from you and a couple others to help manage. This is one busy place since DQXI hit.

So, what do you think? Can I count on you to keep things on the level? --Swordzmanp236 (talk) 07:05, September 20, 2018 (UTC)

DQXI Monster Art Ripping

Since XI is already out, we have yet to see good artwork of awesome monsters like the Ursa Panda, the rest of Morgedon's followers, Jasper's monster form, and all of the XI monsters still at large, like the Jack Potter/Gold Grabber, Coral Grub, Red Giant, Toy Dragon/Clockwyrm, Brollyolpian, Supereme Succubat, Wight Bulb, Hooper Duper, Spawny Devil (Which is also the Side Winder's new color in the 3DS Verison of this game), and a whole lot more like the Calasmonaut. Here are the links/evidence everyone needs to do: So, let's get to monster finding Questers! Macdawg (talk) 16:51, September 21, 2018 (UTC)

Do you have any proof of the ogre race's localized name? The IT 15 (talk) 05:34, December 16, 2018 (UTC)

Yes, they are from the Dragon Quest Illustarions Book. Macdawg (talk) 14:41, December 16, 2018 (UTC)

Hey Macdawg, you're doing real well helping out on this site. But I also have a favor to ask. You know in DQXI there are vicious and malicious of existing monsters right? I happen to have a info template for those. If you ever want to add info 'bout them, use my template here:

Vicious monsters template:

Malicious monsters template:

thank you for your help.

This week, i was watching Dragon Quest : Yuusha no Abel.

All this spell in the anime was so nice, i search for translate, and i see that some of the spell don't have French version.

So i was glad to add them.

Thank you for your message ! i will be glad to help you more ! :)

Combining Plant, Bug and Aquatic families into Nature family

I was wondering something. May we merge the Plant, Bug and Aquatic families of monsters into the Nature family since Dragon Quest XI made the change? Alpha Omega Plus (talk) 02:00, February 28, 2019 (UTC) Sure, by all means. And then we gotta improve Mottle she-slime & Mottle mendslime's artworks before late March.Macdawg (talk) 02:32, February 28, 2019 (UTC)

Great! I wondering how that the Nature family would look like. You know like the intro paragraph. I also renamed the Zombie Family page to Undead Family for similiar reason. I'm also thinking we should recatogorized the monsters under that family as Undead. Alpha Omega Plus (talk) 21:24, February 28, 2019 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the welcoming message, ive been reading this wiki for a long time now and htought it was about time to get involved myself. Dragon Quest IX is not only my favorite game in the series but in general so seeing it less than filled in surprised me. I'll try to work mostly on that game until it is a more interesting read for everyone, but let me know if you have any pointers or criticisms on what i write because i would love to hear them.

Thanks a lot for the new pics!

Thanks a lot (Mac-)dawg!  =P I will try and brighten them up.Frostare (talk) 15:10, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

You're welcome. Just be sure to to fix all of the rareified monsters that we haven't gotten yet (Leviathing & Clockwyrm who turned out to have debuted in Dragon Quest X being prime examples), along with the Gold grabber and Badonis, which is coming.Macdawg (talk) 15:41, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

I already ripped several of them,  it was the best I could do with the size they came in. You wouldn't happen to have a better quality scan where they are bigger, do you? ;P By the way, I still consider Clockwyrm to be from DQ11, so in my monster list it's gonna stay there. And hey, did Leviathing also made it to DQ10? And it did without Snowgre? Frostare (talk) 10:02, April 5, 2019 (UTC)

No, what I meant was that Clockwyrm debuted in X, and Leviathing debuted in DQ11 with Snowgre, since these are Mordegon minions, not Nergeru, Madesagoura, & Nadraga/Cronos minions. But yeah, I respect the Clockwyrm being from DQ11. And the scan was the best I could do, but I just want to see Badonis have perfect transparent artwork. Good luck with the monsters!Macdawg (talk) 16:02, April 5, 2019 (UTC)

Okay, I'm really having trouble with Badonis, though. Also, whenever you add an image to an article, could you put it INSIDE the box? Thanks! Frostare (talk) 21:41, May 1, 2019 (UTC)

I am, relax. I forgot that Padre, pawn of Cronos was a brother to Dolmes. Thank you, by the way. Please keep trying for Badonis, and have somebody, like Ash fix Mottle mendslime's artwork, (The one with the blue background/copyright in the way) before Dragon Quest X's story continues.Macdawg (talk) 01:55, May 2, 2019 (UTC)

So, Frost. I managed to get the artwork for Jurassic lloyd, a DQ10 monster, liberated form the evil Paradise Papers. It's not much, but should inspire you and everyone else on this wiki to finish up Badonis, Mottle Mendslime, and search for a good artwork of Gold grabber, since it reappeared in Super Light, giving us another chance. Oh, and any news on Dragon Quest X's future? I heard we're supposed to get a X 2 similar to Final Fantasy, I think.Macdawg (talk) 22:54, May 15, 2019 (UTC)

I forgot about Mottle Mendslime! Okay, but remember it's not Cronos, but Kyuronos or maybe Q-ronos. Also, when you added Jurassic Lloyd there's no need to put it outside the box. Anyways, thanks for finding it! Maybe I can work on a Platinasaurus from scratch. I'll also try to get Gold Grabber because I love that one monster so much. Frostare (talk) 05:10, May 22, 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply, Frost. How's the work for Gold grabberBadonis, & Mottle mendslime going? Also, I posted the latest Dragon Quest X image of what's to come.Macdawg (talk) 14:22, May 25, 2019 (UTC)

More pages we want

Nice job on the greedy lizard, Chief. Given the information I just posted to Erik, someone should be able to copy/paste and create Gyldygga and/or Mia (Dragon Quest XI). Would be interesting to learn if there are similar beasts stalking the universe. If there’s anything else you need while my memory of events is still fresh, you know where to find me. Good luck. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:55, April 22, 2019 (UTC) You're welcome. I hope IT can flesh out more of the last non Spectral Sential follower, AvarithMacdawg (talk) 23:37, April 22, 2019 (UTC)

Agreed. You know, you can artificially create a thread and make it more readable by placing a colon for each level of indent you want to use, as I'm setting up here. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:59, April 23, 2019 (UTC)
It's a nice little trick used often on our sister wikis. Just look at the markup, and you'll catch on. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:59, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

Wiki Manager introduction

Hello, I'm Flanqer, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for the Dragon Quest Wiki. I introduced myself in Discussions, but wanted to drop you a personal message since you're one of the active admins. I'm here to help your community, and to be a liaison to full-time Fandom Staff. If you ever have any questions related to the wiki, whether it's about editing, styling, infoboxes, policy, etc, please contact me on my talk page.

Flanqer (talk) 22:49, May 15, 2019 (UTC)

You keep mentioning the Paradise Papers. Where is that? The IT 15 (talk) 04:35, May 16, 2019 (UTC)

You mean what are they? They're documents that have the rich people's secrets, but unforutanley they got Akira Toriyama in their web of evil. Hence, why we aren't getting artwork of CanaryanioBelly stickRed giantElectric needlerGiraffe masterGiraffe sisterPilfererSconstrosityBlue hornRed fangNessicureMegaton champConquistador ghoulPink sabrecatGenomeCoralotl, and others. Which is why we must double our efforts with BadonisGold grabber, and Mottle mendslime. We must be ready for Dragon Quest X's future since Cronos was killed at the end of Verison 4.Macdawg (talk) 19:29, May 16, 2019 (UTC)

Human battles

As I try to fill in more Dragon Quest XI stuff, I wonder if we have anything on the human characters we fight? Looking for data on Masked Rab, Masked Jade, Spirit Rab (displayed as Rab), and Jinxed Jade. Figured we could put them under their respective character pages. If we’ve got it, what better place to use it? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 21:47, May 24, 2019 (UTC)

AI changes?

I don’t know what you’re seeing, but I've been trying to snag every monster in the DQXI bestiary for completion purposes. All of the stump enemies can heal in some annoying capacity. I'm pretty sure I'd run across a few stump grumps tossing herbs at others in the same mob. Keep in mind that this is as of patch 1.02. Some of these things have started off catching zzz's if I remember rightly. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 01:20, June 6, 2019 (UTC)

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if all the monsters start up their Pep Power fun without long waiting?Macdawg (talk) 01:28, June 6, 2019 (UTC)
Many monsters have indeed pepped up in my run though. Usually happens when they start redlining (i.e. you can see they’re on the ropes]. Gyldygga would be one great example in action. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 02:05, June 6, 2019 (UTC)

Monster miscellany

It has come to my attention that there was artwork for the DQVII 3DS enemy splitting headache, I was looking for italian names for the wiki on youtube when I came across this:

Can u find it

I'm trying my best to find it in better quality, but I'm sure you can find it too since you're good at scouting better quality monster images. Thank you for your cooperation. The IT 15 (talk) 04:39, June 27, 2019 (UTC)

Hmmmm, not this time, I was owed a high quality Super Light artwork of Gold grabber, since it reappeared in this game, and a pefectly modifed artwork of Badonis. Please take these unfufilled requests to heart. Oh, and guess what rareified monster reappeared/actually debuted in Dragon Quest X (Production-wise) that the VA is still looking for? The Ursa panda. This is the last of the Verison 4 monsters X offered us, since now we're moving on the Verison 5, and the return of the Funghoul. But thanks for the offer.Macdawg (talk) 19:38, June 27, 2019 (UTC)

Just a little note: I cannot find a perfect Gold Grabber for ripping and Badonis I'm not even gonna bother restoring since it's beyond me. A better quality image is needed. I tried looking for it with what little I could rip the artwork of Badonis but no such luck. DO NOT wait for me to restore it, it's not my duty. Frostare (talk) 06:41, June 28, 2019 (UTC)

Yes, you're right. Thank you for the Platinasaurus, by the way. Oh, and did you hear? The Ursa panda turned out to have debuted in Dragon Quest X. (Production-wise)Macdawg (talk) 13:18, June 28, 2019 (UTC)

Osa panda dq10
Hahaha, you like thinking that way don't you? But it's OK. =) Ursa Panda debuted in DQ11, he just made it to a newer, late DQ10 version. That makes the second one with Clockwyrm. And yes, I've seen pictures! =)  Frostare (talk) 00:24, June 30, 2019 (UTC)

Monster Infobox patched

Looks like our liaison moved some ones and zeroes to upgrade the MonsterInfo template using modern code. Check it out at User:Flanqer/Test and see if you can work it into select pages. The test case would look great if there were not so many different slimes, but the spirit of the remodel is spot-on. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 07:58, August 19, 2019 (UTC)

Just a little question about the pic you uploaded, do you think we could get in the future a bigger image of this monster? Because I want to start ripping it but I don't know if someone will upload a higher-quality image. Do you think it would be better if I waited a little longer for a better picture? Or should I start ripping this already? Frostare (talk) 19:35, September 30, 2019 (UTC) Depends. We did see a good quality image of the Psaro Vis mager, and maybe use the google search with his Japanese kanji and dmsl to have people on the case for the 2nd to last Spectral Sentienl. If ripping can be done with the best quality, that'd be nice also. Cause I can't wait to see if he had a hand in Erik's amensia. Oh, and can you restore the Bambooligan's higher quality artwork? I scanned that from the blue DQX guide. Macdawg (talk) 19:50, September 30, 2019 (UTC)

I'll do my best, restoring is really not my thing but I sometimes try. I'd rather find or scan better wuality artwork. For Indignus I'll do that too, I'll try to find a higher one but if there isn't, I'll just rip this. Thanks! Frostare (talk) 22:08, September 30, 2019 (UTC)

Could you please not put DQXI spoilers in your edit summaries ?

I'm sound enough not to go to pages I know have spoilers, but edit summaries show in the wiki activity...Tigali (talk) 13:10, October 3, 2019 (UTC) K, sorry bout that.Macdawg (talk) 13:43, October 3, 2019 (UTC)

Quintet Wiki Affiliation

Hello, I am an admin on Quintet Wiki. I was wondering if you would be interested in being affiliated with us.

--Tgr6234 (talk) 14:03, October 5, 2019 (UTC)

Was there ever a localized name for Naumannborg at all? I heard rumours that the species aren't in the game. The IT 15 (talk) 02:42, October 7, 2019 (UTC)

I'm certain they reappeared in the Japanese verison of the Definitive Edition, but I had a hard time finding these guys, since Balhibs were there. Maybe it was due to people in the West wanting elephants to stay alive, or someone among the localization team not wanting this line of Dragon Quest X monsters to be in the game, but either way, we can all agree on one thing: They were probaly afraid of them joining up with the VA. Still, I'm gonna keep trying. Maybe it'll just come up when monsters like Godsteed roam the Ruby Path of Doom. Oh, and I updated the Pilferpithecus page you made. Macdawg (talk) 12:55, October 7, 2019 (UTC)

Back to the topic at hand, folks. This OP wants to know if we want to link up with the Quintet Wiki. Unless we find some specific reference within Dragon Quest to Quintet (one of the old Enix studios behind the SoulBlazer games), then it's a huge nyet. The two are related only by their connection to Enix and naught else. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 17:15, October 7, 2019 (UTC)

Please stop adding images like that

Macdawg, if you're not gonna add an image to its rightful place in the article's table, you please not add them at all? I'm talking about half-adding them the way you do. Thanks. Frostare (talk) 04:54, October 12, 2019 (UTC) Yes. And can you fix the spelling mistake for the Archfiend's acolyte in the List of monsters in Dragon Quest XI Bestiary? I just consider it a blot on the personal record. Macdawg (talk) 13:27, October 12, 2019 (UTC)

Evil Ganesha, Naumannborg and Elephant King

So they don't appear? Like, at all? It is as I feared. I don't know why they chose to go with this route but I have my theories... =P
Evil ganesha DQ

Yeah, I did some research and the article was from 2 years ago (, but regardless, Rajan Zad (Probaly) had something to do with this. He took inspiration from "both sides" and demanded that Square not put the NaumannborgEvil ganesha, & Elephant king in the Definitve Editon of Dragon Quest XI, not even in the Japanese verison. He was afriad of those 3 Madesagora monster minions joining the VA in their fight against the T**** Rebellion, that this evil event happend. If someone can start a petition for these loveable monsters, it would make Dragon Quest fans happy worldwide. For now, we'll still wait for Verison 5 of thier debut game, and other Dragon Quest stuff, with monster artwork waiting in the SE-MOOK of DQXIS and others... Macdawg (talk) 13:12, October 14, 2019 (UTC)

Hmm I don't know if I'd go as far as saying he was directly involved but I do think he and the controversy could have been indirectly involved. Do they appear in DQ of the Stars? I sincerely hope they do, I really would have loved to know their spanish name and, of course, their english name. As well as fight them. Frostare (talk) 05:47, October 15, 2019 (UTC)

You almost at the part when you fight the bosses at the hall of remembrances yet? If so have any data on names and pix? The IT 15 (talk) 03:47, October 28, 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, I just have to defeat Calasmos to fufill the last Dragon Quest 1 Echo Chmaber quest. Macdawg (talk) 11:47, October 28, 2019 (UTC)

Here’s something for you: levels of flight

I don’t know if you can do any research into this, but it seems that all monsters flea once the party reaches a certain power level. Slimes, being weak creatures, have a lower tolerance for power then, say, knight errants, who are far stronger. Metal creatures tend to flee at a higher rate, as if their breaking point is fixed at level 1. If you can find conclusive evidence of a hidden stat, you might wish to add it for each monster that you do, rather than list it as a possible action it may take. You up for that? Pokemon Sword and Shield

Off topic but your playing Pokemon Sword and Shield now huh? What's your league card number? The IT 15 (talk) 02:40, November 20, 2019 (UTC)

My League Card number is 0000 0000 RXVB C6, in case you're wondering.Macdawg (talk) 13:40, November 20, 2019 (UTC)

Multifists vs Multifeet

On the surface, this looks like a clear-cut case of sex discrimination. Most users of the Multifists skill happen to be male. That includes some of these monsters that you mention. And the effect seems to vary from game to game. I don’t know of any sources that would confirm or deny that Jade’s skill is or is not clearly a replacement since she focuses on kicks over punches. Both are fisticuffs skills. That’s why I originally had it in there the way I did. I also can’t find evidence that it was used in the same way before, so for now, splitting hairs like this doesn’t make sense. We would need plenty of hard evidence to give it its own separate coverage. You probably should’ve just added the monster data as far as who can use it. Otherwise, Multifeet is more of a stub than an article worthy of a one-off skill like, say Glow. What do you think? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 03:22, December 10, 2019 (UTC)

Multifeet's actually been around since Dragon Quest Heroes II as an ability that is used when one uses a Monster Medal of a Splatypunk and/or Crack-billed platypunk (Which still has yet to reappear in Dragon Quest X, speaking of...) and in Dragon Quest XI, as well as X from the latter part of 4.5 onwards. Fact, I even have proof of its existence right here: Multifeet page for this wiki. It's not really a case of sex discrimination, it's just the differnece of punches or kicks. Just food for thought. Oh, and Alena knows Multifists in the Heroes game. Macdawg (talk) 13:02, December 10, 2019 (UTC).

Great. Still doesn’t quite explain how Jade seems to merge the two into her character makeup. Despite the differing names and foci, the execution of each is similar in that multiple strikes hit all targets at random. If you can find clear proof that the two are mechanically different, then we will separate them. Wiki quirks don’t allow for slashes in a title (this triggers subpaging), and even with the discovery, there’s not really enough data between sources to support separation. We’ve just got a lot of one- or two-sentence articles, and this needs to change. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 15:36, December 10, 2019 (UTC)

I agree. Bakuretsuki is the romanzation of Multifeet, while Bakuretsuen is the romanzation for Multifists. It's always the tinest details that can prove something beyond a doubt. (ばくれつきゃく & ばくれつけん, for kanji of the two skills, in case you're asking) Macdawg (talk) 20:16, December 10, 2019 (UTC)

Dragon Quest: Scan Battlers

Also, replace Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Scanner monsters in categories to Dragon Quest: Scan Battlers monsters please. Thanx! The IT 15 (talk) 05:34, December 18, 2019 (UTC)

Sure, but I don't know how to. Can u just merge the Monster Battle Road Scanner monsters category with the Scan Battlers monsters category?Macdawg (talk) 12:39, December 18, 2019 (UTC)

Template aesthetic changes

I’ve updated all of the main series monster data boxes to correctly display “Defence” as they should. This should not affect normal data entry; it would take far too long to update the underlying code as well as each page. You’re welcome. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 16:36, January 7, 2020 (UTC)

You're welcome. Also, I'm still waiting for Frostare to upload a new Brodysseus artwork, since its toenails (The last one on its right foot and the first one on its left) have something wrong with them (They're insta alphaed incorrectly, when they should've been left alone) Macdawg (talk) 19:59, January 7, 2020 (UTC)

I noticed but I forgot, thanks for reminding me! Next time, please leave a message in my inbox because I almost didn't notice this one. =D Frostare (talk) 18:17, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

You're welcome. Also, did u know that Madesagora has a grandson? Macdawg (talk) 18:19, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

Yeah! Well, not exactly but I heard things about Madesagora in the cutscenes I watched from Version 5. I can't also shake off the feeling that Beltro set up Jair, but I really don't know. =P Frostare (talk) 18:37, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

Background change time?

Isn't it time for a background change? I think we need something to represent Dragon Quest XI or Of The Stars.

Frostare (talk) 18:20, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

Sure. Maybe the Spectral Sentinels, Jasper and Mordegon would work wonders? Macdawg (talk) 18:23, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

As much as I'd love that, we should keep spoilers at minimum. Maybe The Hero, Erik, Jasper, Hendrik, Serena and Veronica? Sylvando would be great too, since he was voted most popular character in that one Famitsu poll for Western players.Frostare (talk) 18:33, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

Deal. Macdawg (talk) 18:35, January 11, 2020 (UTC)

Dokudoku balloon

It seems this monster was mistakenly named "Dedoku Balloon", I was about to correct it to "doku doku balloon" or "poison balloon", but I had this name in store for that guy and thought it sounded cool. But, is that name OK, or should I it change it back to "doku doku balloon" or maybe "poisonous balloon" for convenience purposes?

Frostare (talk) 20:33, January 16, 2020 (UTC)

Either is fine. I'm waiting for the Dragon Quest X Monster Army's newest soldier, the Crystal beast, along with an old friend that was already in Mordegon's army, along with others that have yet to emerge from the dugout...and some new family members for Belly stickCanaryano, and PantomineMacdawg (talk) 21:07, January 16, 2020 (UTC)

Try this on for size

I've modified {{SpellInfo}} to include a couple more helpful fields when writing spell pages. These fields are:

|Formerly =
|Element =

As to the magic/skill's "Type", I'm going to propose that we follow the schema used in XI:

  • Recovery
  • Attack
  • Support
  • Debilitating
  • Field

"Element" is a no-brainer: fire, ice, wind, earth, light, dark, and blast. Not every one of these will fit every game, but it's good to know because maybe some fiends are resistant to one or more.

Let me know what you think. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 01:15, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

I don't mind. It's perfect. Also, that schema was first used in X as an Anti Frustation Feature, but go right ahead with it. Macdawg (talk) 02:01, January 22, 2020 (UTC)

Great job finding Pachatica's artwork! He looks great! I hope we're able to find his legendary beast friend, Kashar, too! Just a question, who is the monster that you call Terujujuboiboi? How do you write its name in japanese? Frostare (talk) 08:21, January 31, 2020 (UTC) The Terujujuboiboi you refer to is a monster that looks like Don Mole. And is Kashar one of the regional gods of Astolia? Macdawg (talk) 13:18, January 30, 2020 (UTC)The water sacred being that looks like a dolphin. Frostare (talk) 08:22, January 31, 2020 (UTC)

Inquiry for suggestions

Hello there. I've recently been appointed as a fellow administrator to help tidy up the wiki a little bit, with an emphasis on pages and topics not covered by others. At the moment, I'm focused on media that is not video games, such as manga, anime, albums, and light novels, but I'm also trying to remove redundant pages and redirects that I stumble upon. Do you have any suggestion of which pages or topics I should turn my attention to? Jfgslo (talk) 19:11, February 19, 2020 (UTC)

Stars skills

Looks like we will need some kind of table template with the following, since most of these are going to have a:

  • Name
  • Type
  • Rank
  • Description
  • Max Level
  • How to acquire/synth

Think you can prestidigitate something like that? Swordzmanp236 (talk) 16:14, February 25, 2020 (UTC)

Maybe. But have u seen some loacailzed names for the Thug mug from X, and skills like Chain AttackEdge of Chaos, and Hurricane Slash? Oh, and I saw the Gobblebox and Giga gobbleboxMacdawg (talk) 19:57, February 25, 2020 (UTC).
Oh, right, you're the monster wrangler. It shouldn't be too difficult for you, then, to base a Stars monster template off one of the priors. Stats are variable with difficulty level, but at least the colors are easy; try inverting the base XI template. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 20:15, February 25, 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm the monster wrangler, but I'm also upgrading skill and spell credentials. For example, did u know that Axes of Evil actually debuted in Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart? Or that there's a more powerful verison of Kerfrizz, and a Sweet Breath ability that can only be used if a Monster Team is composed of all three Funghoul monsters? Just taking it like a trooper, but I'm still trying to find the DQX monsters that reappeared in the game. (Oh, and it turns out they have ALL the monsters that reappeared/debuted in the game itself, ie, Japan.) Macdawg (talk) 21:19, February 25, 2020 (UTC)

Hello, where did the name "Duke Sigras" came from? Was it DQotS? If so, thank you, and I'll try to find the spanish name for this... Hey Macdawg, what’s your number for dragon quest of the stars? The IT 15 (talk) 20:57, March 6, 2020 (UTC)

Not sure. I'm waiting until the adventure continues, since there was a "To Be Continued" after Chapter 8. Macdawg (talk) 21:03, March 6, 2020 (UTC)

It doesn’t matter, I just want to have the number that’s all. Here’s mine: AAWHGQ6764 The IT 15 (talk) 00:52, March 8, 2020 (UTC)

Hello i saw you posted a lot of artworks, and i wonder where did you get the ones for Joojoo gooroo and Voodoo gooroo? I'm very curious because i have several guidebooks, but i never see these artworks in the guidebooks i have. Thank you for your hard work, and have a great day.DastansPreux (talk) 01:40, March 14, 2020 (UTC)

I don't know where the artwork for Joojoo gooroo and Vodoo gooroo came from, to be honest. Macdawg (talk) 01:48, March 14, 2020 (UTC)

A monster list

Hello, i was told that you'd might want this info potentially, but i have the full monster list (Monster # 1 - #803) For The 3DS remake of Dragon Quest Monsters 2, i do not have the ability or know how to do so, but if you or someone else wanted to make an official monster list page for the game like all the other monsters games has, i can provide the list, as well as a few images for some of the monsters in it who don't even have pages yet. Demongodivuul (talk) 19:35, March 14, 2020 (UTC)

Quick question, you have animal Crossing new horizons? If so let’s visit our islands. Maybe be friends in the switch. The IT 15 (talk) 00:50, March 24, 2020 (UTC)

I don't have Animal Crossing New Horizons. I'm just trying to improve various articles to the best of my abilites. I'm like Palpatine after he won against the Jedi, Separatists, and the peace mongering Loyalist Committe (The Delegation of 2,000, to be precise) trying to unlock secrets that were once lost to history (Ie, skills that debuted in X that reappeared in games like XIDQH, and DQHII). Plus, I think the merging of the Fisticuffs skill tree pages ( & has you, Frost, and others' names on it, just like the Scan Battlers monster categories. Just something to think about, since intel reported that 5.2 is delayed due to Covid 19. (Has Succubats as another call forward to XI, and a little girl that looks like Valeria...) Macdawg (talk) 00:12, April 11, 2020 (UTC)

Arch chimaera or Archimaera?

You probably have seen the new article for this monster. Even as a non-native english speaker, I know that "Ark kimera" isn't exactly the intended meaning for the monster's japanese name; it's clear that they were going for the "higher position" prefix as seen in "archdemon/archdaemon" and "archangel". Problem is, "archchimera" just looks... aberrant. So I want your opinion in this, what would be a better name from the ones in the title? I've seen both being used, albeit scarcely, for other entertainment media monsters. Frostare (talk) 17:01, April 11, 2020 (UTC) Beats me. I know that the monster reappears in Scan Battlers (Ark Chimaera and Monster Friends), but I still wonder what its localized name will be when its number is called? (Which is a long way from the current one...)  Macdawg (talk) 18:18, April 11, 2020 (UTC)

Could you create articles the correct way in future. Otherwise, people will have to correct them. Ellis99 VII & VIII 10:38, April 27, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for artwork of The Black Groom!

Thank you so much for the artwork of this, the first Weddie boss! I've been wanting it for ages! Thanks again! I guess Yamiwarashi is the only one left. Frostare (talk) 19:55, May 1, 2020 (UTC)

Yes, the first Wetling boss. I'm guessing you mean the Drooling ghoul like monster for the Poppet storyline?Macdawg (talk) 19:57, May 1, 2020 (UTC)

Oops, I meant to say "Wetlings", yes. And yeah, the viper Lickspittle. Since it has a name similar to Tsuchiwarashi (Lickspittle) + "yami" (darkness) I think any fanmade name that reflects that would also be fine. Frostare (talk) 21:14, May 1, 2020 (UTC) .

Just uploaded the Viper Lickspittle artwork for your needs: ( Hope you enjoy it! Macdawg (talk) 23:06, May 1, 2020 (UTC)

What does this message mean? And the Bloody Hand conundrum

Hey again, I just found this message that I think was addressed to me in TheIT's comment section. This is why I prefer you leave the messages in my page, because I never noticed it until now. My question is, whatever do you mean by it?

It's not a Bewarewolf recolor. It's an entirley different monster. That's the translation's confusion genuis.

Listen here, I know Dasurikanto is not a Bewarewolf recolor, that's why I said "change it in the future". The developers have, in the past, changed a monster's appearance to a recolor of another monster like the Hell's Gatekeeper in DQ9, and for all we know, they could do that with the Ursa Mega and turn it into a Bewarewolf recolor. That's what I meant. Was that what you were asking?

Another question, do you know about the ブラッディハンド (blood hand) and ブラッドハンド (bloody hand) conundrum? Apparently there's people in Japan who argue that they're not the same monster, even if they look exactly the same (in a case similar to the Caper Tiger and the Weartiger), but they have been called the same in english. Some people in Japan even say they are the same, and I feel kind of bad bringing it here where everyone is just happy in their ignorance; I can't blame them, it is an insignificant problem with a complicated explanation. I just decided to finally bring it to you because you seem to have the level of passion for monsters that I do. Here's more info about that:

And in the spanish wiki, I made separate articles for each one:

Yes, we spanish speakers had the fortune of having the one in DQ6 receiving a different, new name... that is, until DQ11, where it went back to being called the same as the other one. *sigh* Again, I can't blame them, this issue is complicated - specially when the english version, which I'm assuming is the main model for the rest of the international versions, doesn't know about it, either that or they decided to slide it under the rug. I can understand if you also want to ignore this issue and treat both monsters as the same; still, thanks for listening.

Frostare (talk) 07:58, May 2, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for creating all the articles for the first Five Races bosses!

As the title says. Thank you! Frostare (talk) 16:30, May 2, 2020 (UTC)

New background image for the wiki

Can you or do you know someone who can create a background image with Dragon Quest of the Stars elements following Fandom's indications? Frostare and I consider that it's a good moment to change the current background image for the most recent Dragon Quest game released in English, which happens to be DQotS. I've also noticed that the current one is not properly designed for Fandom's standards, which is kind of a waste. I, however, am no graphic designer nor am I particularly skillful with image editors. I could give it a try, but I'm currently unable to do it.--Jfgslo (talk) 05:15, May 9, 2020 (UTC)

Dragon Quest of the Stars tips

I've created a page titled Dragon Quest of the Stars tips as a general repository for tips for Dragon Quest of the Stars. I saw no text FAQs out there in English, so I thought it might be a good idea to have tips from people that have played the game. Since you've played the game, please consider adding content and improving it as you see fit. DQotS isn't particularly difficult and doesn't require a walkthrough, but there are some nuances and advanced techniques that are only understood once one actually plays the game.--Jfgslo (talk) 02:19, May 22, 2020 (UTC)

Dragon Quest of the Stars events & other stuff

I've been creating articles for Dragon Quest of the Stars pertaining its temporary events as well as its Lucky Chest Draws and other stuff. NaujAtsituab had the right idea on how to handle them, but it was overly ambitious, so I decided to re-create his idea with text-based articles until future editors can dedicate the time to improve them to fit NaujAtsituab's original vision.

In the meantime, if you can, please fill any extra info that I missed, in particular anything related to First Clear Rewards. It doesn't have to be complete, just input whatever you are able to. Since events have a limited time, I ask that you add what you can while they are active. There are Japanese resources that have the complete info, but the translation is not straightforward, so anything we can add now can be improved later. For example, I now all combo meals of Slime Dumplings and their effects, but I know not the name of the combos in English. Anything that you can add will be appreciated.--Jfgslo (talk) 20:15, May 30, 2020 (UTC)

You may have seen on the discussion of the Demon page that I think the article should probably be retitled.

Going through article's history, I noticed that you put "Asmodian" as a translation for "魔族" and I wondered if you remembered where that came from?

I know some translation software do the same but I think they are influenced by another game IP called "Aion" that do use this translation (Asmodian) and are not using a "by the book" translation of Mazoku.RingoRoadagain (talk) 17:03, June 9, 2020 (UTC)

It's from the Dragon Quest X japanese wiki as said here: Asmodian Explanation and they were created by Jagonuba as revealed in 5.2. And I quote, "The demon world was originally a part of Astortia, and the six races left behind when the land contaminated by the demon spells of [Diagonal god Jagonuba] were separated adapted to the demon world's environment." Meaning that the demon civillains from X were created from Wetlings, OgresPoppetsDwarfs, and Elves who were converted. That should answer your question while we try to figure out who Jagonuba really looks like without those big shadowy hands showing up to give NelgelMadesagora, and Nadraga their final forms. Macdawg (talk) 17:53, June 9, 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I use these japanese wikis too.
The original text makes no mention of the english "Asmodian", so it's google translate who does the translation.
Going by online dictionaries (I used and none did that translation. Knowing how the google algorithm works by machine learning trained on web pages, I'm confident that it was biased by the "Aion" community who commonly translate "mazoku" as "asmodian" in their context and assumed that it was the actual translation for any context. This kind of mistakes are well known with auto-translate.
Respectfully, as we don't have this as an official latin transcription, i think we should remove the word 'asmodian' from the page, if you agree. The only transcription I could trace for this specific word is "Evil" from the Dai databook.RingoRoadagain (talk) 19:13, June 9, 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick reply anyway.RingoRoadagain (talk) 19:14, June 9, 2020 (UTC)
Google Translate is notoriously bad. It's usually good enough to understand the general meaning, but not for accuracy. One problem is that Google lets anyone suggest a "better" translation of a word or phrase, so it can become polluted by fans trying to make it match the English localization of their favorite game/anime/manga.
For that Japanese wiki page, Google translates 魔族 inconsistently -- in the top line it's translated as "Asmodians", but throughout the rest of the page it's translated as "demon".
Consulting my Japanese-English and kanji dictionaries, 魔族 combines 魔 (ma) = demon, devil, evil spirit; and 族 (zoku) = family, race, clan, tribe. So "demon tribe", "demon race", or even just "demons" would be reasonable translations.
For page names, it's best to use whatever it's called in the official English releases of the games. If the games have been inconsistent, perhaps pick whatever seems to be most current or most common.

DQS Mugshots

I’ve been meaning to ask this, but how’d you get those mugshots of the characters on DQotS? The IT 15 (talk) 05:45, June 29, 2020 (UTC)

I didn't obtain the DQS mugshots. They were already uploaded by Soul, and I had to rename most of them, while putting them in their rightful galleries. It was hell, I can tell you. Oh, and can you please leave the MP costs for certain skills with the * alone? It was hard work to put them in there, and I don't want them deleted to have to put them in again. One more thing, I scanned Evil Sir Leopold's artwork from the DQ25th Monster Artbook, so it could be put in its rightful place. Oh, and btw, what did you think about Mausen being the Hero's Sibling all along, with him summoning the Demon Soul Gwinero to attack the Hero? Or that Ojaros was a Draguar in Sheep Man's clothing? Macdawg (talk) 14:24, June 29, 2020 (UTC)
