Hi, I'm an admin for the Dragon Quest Wiki community. Welcome and thank you for your edit to Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai!

Enjoy your time at Dragon Quest Wiki!

Hello nice to meet you, I was wondering if you can help me with a doubt about Star Dragon Quest.

My questions are if the game possess an story mode

Godzilla and his friends are part of the main storytelling of the game?

Thanks in advance!

Dragon Quest of the Stars contributors

Do you know people interested in contributing and keeping Dragon Quest of the Stars info updated? I no longer wish to play the game since it essentially has taken my free time away and has significantly reduced my contributions to this wiki. The only reason I'm still doing it is because no other contributor, other than yourself and Frostare, has bothered to do it since NaujAtsituab started to create further content besides the main article. If so, please invite them to contribute to this wiki and/or to improve the sister wiki Dragon Quest of the Stars Wiki to complete the information there and pass whatever is relevant here. I truly am begrudgingly playing it at this point and have no good disposition to continue to do so, but I honestly think is a great game to introduce new players to the franchise as well as an excellent tool for older fans to regain their love for the series. It's even possible that the special events from other DQ media like Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai are included in the international release with the new TV anime.

For that reason, I don't want to leave the coverage of the game alone, so, please, invite anyone else interested in covering the game, particularly regarding the limited-time story events.--Jfgslo (talk) 00:26, September 8, 2020 (UTC)

Bond of Souls name

There is no official localisation currently, but, following Dragon Quest Wiki:Naming policy, "Bond of Souls" is the most approximate localisation. Simply put, "bonds", plural, makes little sense in comparison to "bond", singular. There is an approximation in the Japanese link offered here, but, conversely, I went with plural "souls" instead of singular "soul" because it made more sense in the context (as you know, Japanese don't really have plurals unless for specific emphasis) and the official link (which uses "souls" in the url). Normally, I'd would use the common name used in gaming press, but the translation used is wrong ("Spirit of Bonds" as used here), does not appear to go with what it's intended per the official link ("Soul Bond" as seen here) or didn't make sense to me (as in the plural form "bonds" as seen here), particularly after watching the second trailer in which characters form a bond with the main hero (which is not Dai). When there is an official title or a more widespread title used in most gaming media, then we can change the title, but, for the moment, I went with "Bond of Souls" for the purpose of having a place to put videos, images and upcoming info that's understandable in English instead of the Japanese title (English must always be preferred when possible).--Jfgslo (talk) 04:20, September 29, 2020 (UTC)

Dragon Quest of the Stars & The Adventure of Dai

Just to let you know that I'll stop contributing to Dragon Quest of the Stars today. As I alluded previously, it takes too much of my free time and has stopped most of my other contributions to the wiki. I leave it in your hands and will gladly help you if you need me, but I'll stop playing the game altogether with today's update in a few hours.

Regarding Dai, excellent work. Keep it up. The format that you have chosen for the articles is great, in particular your decision to go with "[series name] [chapter/episode]" for the episode titles. I noticed that another editor tried to rename the articles with initialisms, which is a big no-no because that makes it harder for most users to know what that series is supposed to be and this wiki strives to make Dragon Quest as a whole more accessible and popular for all public, so I reverted the names of the 2020 episodes articles to your original version. That said, I'll be renaming manga chapters articles from "Dai no Daibouken" to "The Adventure of Dai" since this is an English-language wiki and we do not condone the practices of anime and manga wikis to name series and media with their Japanese names when English ones are available. See Dragon Quest Wiki:Naming policy for more details. Jfgslo (talk) 22:12, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Thanks , i'll do what i can. By the way, I'm not the one who created the 2020 Dai episode pages and chose their title format: that was DranzerX13 so thanks on that front should go to them. I believe they also are the one who created all the chapter and 1991 episode pages back in 2013.
I agree with you about the renaming for the 1991 episodes and manga chapter pages.RingoRoadagain (talk) 11:04, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

Manga chapter & anime episode templates

I'll create new templates for manga chapters and anime episodes since the current ones aren't in comply with the wiki policies and were created seven years ago under a different standard. Since you've been the most active contributor in articles with them, let me know if there is any characteristic that you wish to see in them. I'll let you know once I create them to get your feedback before implementing them. Jfgslo (talk) 00:00, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

Can you tell me the changes you want to make? Except for the weird template names I don't see what should be changed as I already tinkered them a bit months ago (default title, and "preceded_by" & "followed_by" fields display iirc).
I believe all the following fields should be present, preferably with the same field names are the templates currently in use to ease the process once you create new ones.
  • For chapter:
    • english title (main title; no official DQ manga localisations exist at the moment afaik but maybe in the future; page title by default but it will always be filled in with something else given our current page title convention)
    • image (obviously)
    • number
    • japanese title
    • romaji
    • literal translation
    • Arc
    • release date (maybe a new field for the magazine issue it was released in)
    • (maybe fields for writer, for artist and for other staff)
    • adapted into
    • preceded by (at the bottom with horizontal display and arrow, for clarity)
    • followed by (same as above)
  • For episode:
    • english title (main title; page title by default like with manga)
    • image
    • number
    • japanese title
    • romaji
    • literal translation
    • Arc
    • release date
    • adaptation of
    • preceded_by (same as manga)
    • followed by
    • (maybe a bunch of fields for the staff in a collapsed section of the box, but i'm unsure which ones are relevant enough)

I hope it's the kind of feedback you were looking for.RingoRoadagain (talk) 10:52, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

For starters, the template names and overall look. Also to emphasize that this is NOT a manga and anime wiki, so details like Japanese name instead of Kanji, transliteration instead of romaji and similar things. See this draft for manga chapter: User:Jfgslo/Template:Infobox_manga_chapter. I'd like to replace "series" for a link to the list of chapters of a series in case it's applicable. I have to weigh this, though, as there are many, many Japanese comics based around the Dragon Quest series that just haven't been covered yet, and I'm not convinced that it'd work correctly for all other comic books.
As for the episode template, I don't like to clutter infoboxes, so I'm thinking something like this instead of this. Jfgslo (talk) 05:12, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
All right, it all seems good to me. Thanks for having kept me in touch. Maybe you could just add the unicode arrows in the 'previous' and 'next' fields output ("← Previous" and "Next →")? Most wikis, including wikipedia itself, do it nowadaysRingoRoadagain (talk) 07:13, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
As you requested, I've added the arrows. Also, I've finished a draft of the episode template. Check it out and let me know your feedback: User:Jfgslo/Template:Infobox anime episode
Also, the color scheme in both templates is provisional. I've yet to decide which ones to use in order to differentiate it from other type of infoboxes, or if it should use the same ones as the infobox anime and infobox magna templates. Do let me know if you have suggested colors as graphical design is not my forte. Jfgslo (talk) 19:00, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for keeping me in the loop, sadly I'm not great with colour design. Since it would be easy to change once the templates are created, it might be better to discuss it on their talk page once they are created so that every contributors could more easily participate?
Personally, a large wikis I frequently browse is the Doctor Who wiki and it seems consistent in its colour choice between all their infoboxes. I guess we could do the same and use the outlook of our own "infobox character" everywhere?RingoRoadagain (talk) 19:33, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
I also favor a single unified design. However, the most used template in the wiki, Template:MonsterInfo, has always had a different style since its inception, even prior to the current administration. In fact, Template:Infobox character was designed to make use of the complex design of the DQ theme that was only used by Template:MonsterInfo. Given that that template has essentially become fait accompli, the default infobox design has been reserved to games exclusively as well as staff, while other non-gaming media & topics have their own color scheme in order to easily differentiate when talking about them, such as books, comics, animations, music and so on. So, I would like at least create a design that harmonizes with the idea of manga chapter and one with the idea of anime episode. Jfgslo (talk) 22:17, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Re: Transliterated names

Well, it's an issue that will always be present depending on the individual settings of the users. For example, in Baran's article, the same thing occurs with "Japanese name". It's very easy to remove the "name" part of both labels, but I wonder if it would work ok. I don't think it's an issue at all, but, nonetheless, I'll edit the template and you let me know how it works without that part. By the way, Baran should not use the transliterated name field in the first place because that's designed for instances where the main English name is different from the transliteration, for example, Erdrick and Roto. Jfgslo (talk) 17:30, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

The issue with transliterated is exclusively dependent on the user settings. I've got no issue visualizing it completely unless I zoom in at a certain level, but once I zoom more it doesn't appear. Moreover, it doesn't cause any issue with mobile devices. Try zooming the page in or out to check if that still affects you. In my device it only occurs at a certain zoom level, not below or above. It doesn't make sense that it still affects when there no longer is the "title" part. Jfgslo (talk) 19:47, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
I've edited the label to "romanized". While it didn't cause issues with the mobile version, which is the one that must always work since most visitors generally use such devices, this particular infobox is more complex to correct because it uses the DQ theme, so that's likely the cause that Firefox has issues with it. This is most likely a Firefox-only issue and, as you said, Fandom staff probably don't have the latitude to deal with this issue. Jfgslo (talk) 21:06, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

1991 adventure with Dai

Do you want to add in more episodes from 1990 about Dai's adventure?

Yes. I am trying to do the 1991 episodes covering the same chapters as the latest 2020 episode in the week of its release, to have some sort of deadline. That's why I did not yet have to create new pages but I guess I will have to in a few weeks/months. I hope I will be able to stick to this schedule.RingoRoadagain (talk) 22:53, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

Monsters

Hey were there any monsters that were featured in episode 16 of 2020 Dragon Quest?

episode 15 just aired, and i noticed the Frostburn and Dancing flame monsters.RingoRoadagain (talk) 17:50, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Re: Spoiler from page Dai

I removed the spoiler tag from Dai page, as the Destiny Arc and Holy Sword Arc are already happening on the anime 2020. I see no reason to keep the spoiler tag.
