The watermaul wand, also known as the sea roar staff, is a recurring wand in the Dragon Quest series. Its effects have differed from game to game, but it usually has some association with water.
Appearances[]
Dragon Quest VI[]
Making its debut, it is found inside a chest behind a gated room at Poseidon's Palace, and has an attack bonus of +74 and a style bonus of +42 when equipped. When used in battle, the user can emulate Tidal Wave.
Dragon Quest VII[]
The watermaul wand has an attack bonus of +74 and a style bonus of +42. It can be equipped by the Hero, Maribel, and Sir Mervyn. In the PS1 original, if used as a tool in battle, it emulates Tidal Wave just like in VI. In the 3DS remake, however, it was changed to emulate Coral Grief in battle, due to the real-life tragedy of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
It can be purchased from the Dwarves' Den in the present for 14,000 gold and sold for 7,000 gold. One can also be found in the Dwarves' Den in the past in the treasure room after lighting the Beacon.
