Wave of Panic (Aka Shadow Shot and Dark Wave) is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.

Delivers a blast of maddening midnight that debilitates and/or damages even the most dauntless characters.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest IX[]

Making its main series debut, it is a group targeting skill exclusive to GeothaumsEquinox, and Barbarus, lowering a character's defence and agility by 50% for 7~10 turns.

Dragon Quest X[]

Reappearing from 3.3 onwards, it is used by Fuginmunins, Dark king slime, Principal Nadia's Dragon Forme, Demon Soul Gwinero, Robert the Griever, Critterwaul, Malroth, and Plutanus, lowering enemy stats and moving speed, while dealing damage, just like in the Battle Road series.

Dragon Warrior Monsters & Dragon Warrior Monsters 2[]

Making its debut, it is naturally learned by the GripevineTitanis, and Mortamor's second form, inflicting SapDecelerate, and Dazzle on one foe. If multiple enemies are present, the target is selected randomly. It costs 7 MP to use, and requires the user to be level 21 with a wisdom stat of 270 to learn.

Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Series[]

Appearing as the Coup de Grâce for the Dragonlord from Battle Road II onwards, the Ruler of Darkness transforms into his dragon forme and spits a big dark blast that hurts all enemies.

Dragon Quest Heroes II[]

Used when players transform into a Grim rider thorough its Monster Medal, they fire a burst of dark energy that can damage enemies unfortunate to be in its path.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Acting the same as in the Monsters series, it is learned by Geothaums at level 20, and already learned by Dr Snapped when he is recruited, costing 24 MP to use.
