Etymology[]

  • The English name is similar to its shape, the combination of "wyrm" and "turtle".
  • The Japanese name "ガメゴン Gamegon " is the combination of "かめ Kame "(turtle) and "ドラゴン Doragon "(Dragon).

Trivia[]

  • Depiction of Wyrtle within Dragon Quest X to fly by emitting jets from limbs are presumable reference to Gamera, the iconic turtle kaiju where Wyrtle's Japanese name Gamegon also resembles Gamera.
